Your Christmas List – image 2

Well, Thanksgiving is just around the corner, and it's time to consider your Christmas wishlist... For me right now it is...- Star Trek: Starfleet Command II
- 40 to 80 GB (depends on price) HD at 7200 RPM
- At least a $30 gift certificate to Babbage's (comp game store at the mall, this gift is absolutely guaranteed for me )
- Flight Simulator 2002 Professional Edition (no chance I'll get it)
- Combat Flight Simulator 2 (or perhaps 3)
- Sim City 3000 Unlimited
- Lionel Trainmaster Digital Command System (highly unlikely, until maybe June 2003)As you can see, my wish list is dominated by computer games and it has been like this since I received the entire PC Army Men series back in 2000. If all goes well, I'll get at most half of the list... Also another reason why the list is so dominated by comp games is that they're virtually indestructible (no pun intended)... I have been known in the past to break extremely expensive things ($300 Comp. Controlled Telescope last Christmas). Computer games have to be destroyed by breaking the CD... which is extremely hard to do on accident.. ------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to be involved with trains, the Union Pacific!Your Christmas List – image 3John Ekhoff

Battlefield 1942 is a MUST HAVE! Unfortunately, on top of the price of buying the software, you have to have a monthly subscription to a multiplayer website .------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to be involved with trains, the Union Pacific!Your Christmas List – image 14John Ekhoff

What's this have to do with railroads or train simulation?Your Christmas Lists aren't world wide news(I'm always getting told this so I'm going to start telling other people about it because it's ticking me off that I get told but no one else does)
By the way the only thing I want for Christmas that has to do with railroads is that RadioShack dual trunking 1000 channel scanner.

RE: Your Christmas List...

Lemme see.The one thing I would love to have more than anything else in the world is a bassoon (does anyone here besides Rich Garber know what a bassoon is?). But I'd settle for a gift certificate with my favorite Matco dealer. On a slightly more humorous note I read a story a while back in Classic Toy Trains magazine. Lionel financed the early production and tooling costs of the F3 by making a sort of endorsement deal with Santa Fe, New York Central, and EMD. Santa Fe funded 25%, NYC funded 25%, EMD paid 25%, and Lionel only had to pay 25%, not a bad way to launch a new product. That is why for the first few catalogs Santa Fe and New York Central were the only Railroads and all the F3s had a GM logo above the rear steps. Now what does this have to do with Christmas? One year on the radio show Rochester was reading a letter that Jack Benny had composed (paraphrased, as I don't remember it exactly). I have been a very good boy this year and would really like to have a Lionel train set.Only the letter was not addressed to Santa Claus but to the Santa Fe, to top it off after hearing this Santa Fe sent Jack Benny a Lionel train set complete with the famous F3s. (For that matter how many on this forum actually know who Jack Benny or Rochester are)
