I like the switches, especially the switch boxes.
What route is it from?
Thanks!

>Lawrence Darn it Lawrence! You let the cat out of the bag! Yes, it is from the "other" train sim. Just wanted to help it to get rid of it's "toy" reputation. For those people who originally showed interest but thought the demo portrayed it as toy-like, you really should give it a second look. Trainz has worked it's way through puberty and is approaching adulthood with the new release of Ultimate Trainz coming out in November. The biggest improvement is a very powerful scripting language for creating sophisticated senarios (activities). Also supported now is multiple cab views and dual cabs on double ended locos and much more. And Yardmaster is still yet to come.Anyway, this thread was meant to be purely informational for those people who had or still have an intrest in Trainz but may not have visited the Trainz website recently. Please note that no comments either comparative or derogatory have been made towards MSTS(which I still use and enjoy)in this thread and that it has been posted in the proper "General" forum. Constructive comments and questions are welcome. Paul (end of blatant plug)

RE: Check out this trackwork!

I think it was good that you posted that, that's what real trackwork looks like. Is it possible to add accurate frogs, points, and guard rails to MSTS switches? Cliff

YupIt is definitley starting to looks less toy likeI'll still debate over the purchace of UTC thoughLooks good but MSTS is still the one I'll stay with I think ( I have too many online games I still try and make time for ! ..Trainz would add another complication )

RE: Check out this trackwork!

>well... looks like I know what I'm going to get myself for
>my birthday The problem is that there are no downloadable routes (as we know it) available for Trainz. You have to make your own, and using the new tracks is AFAIK much more work than using the stock tracks in Trainz.

There are quite a few quality, long length, prototypical routes available for download. Someone is even doing Marias Pass section by section (they can be merged together).Trainz UTC even has some longer point ot point routes along with the original tiny "layouts" included in the package.Paul

Oh paul...that is so wrong! Though, if I knew where I could find trains, I would probably buy it right away. The question I have, is do you think someone could do that particular track texture for TS?

LAST EDITED ON Nov-03-02 AT 03:53 AM (EST)

It's quite possible, but I think for the modelling that would have to be done; it would be incompatible with the tracks of another route (it would probably crash MSTS)...
That's funny...The tracks over here have frogs, points, and no guardrails..Well, they do; but only in a few areas on the mainline...I'm guessing that's for heavy-duty traffic?Check out this trackwork! – image 8

RE: Check out this trackwork!

That trackwork is pretty impressive.Do the double slip switches work properly?I agree with CPR_Malice;there's only space in my schedule for 1 train sim and that's MSTS.Trainz is cool, but not as good as MSTS.But I don't wont to compare the two.I think it's great that the first generation of train sims are so good ,despite the faults that either sim may have.MSTS is model railroading for me now. It's a great first effort on behalf of both franchises. It should only get better.

While you are there, drop by the forum and talk to Mike10. He is the create of those fantastic switches and track. He may be able to help you out as far as textures go.Paul
