I think microsoft is getting it now

I didnt even realize there was a patch out until yesterday. I finaly got it. I think its a little funny how those 2 locomotives are pretty much what one of you guys would make. The creators work from the assembly line men. It just shows that you guys have the same talent as a multi billion dollar buisness, and you do it for free. There are nice people out there, the guys who make things for me and every other joe shmo out there just out of kindness. Its greatThat SD40, thats really something. Microsoft has hit something with that cab. Its 100x better than the GP38, better detailed, and really makes me feel like Im in the cab. We now know they definitly have ways of doing something really great, now we wait for the next one. I got a good feeling about whats to come

I think MS got miffed at all the business Maple Leaf Tracks are doing with KHP and Sandpatch now? Great SD-40's, Cabooses and views, activities, cars, etc. Especially that huge 'Freight Pull' activity - I thought I was on KHP all over again? But it is nice MS is still contributing, and that many here are appreciative of it when they do come around. For all the great work members here have done, and 3rd party freebies and payware. MS comes out with essentially a 'free day at TrainSim Library grab' and we all get excited still by MS's offer.

True. But without the contributions of the good people here, it would not be nearly as interesting or maddening or fun. Between MS and the people here and others, the sim has grown bigger than even Micro$oft envisioned!

If M$ really really wanted to make an update, they should've asked MapleLeafTracks to make KHP part of an update as a replacement for Marias Pass (instead of just releasing it on their site or ordering directly from M.L.T.), Upgraded the DEM's for the default routes, made a bunch of skins for that new loco; made it replace the default SD40; made a bunch of skins for the European loco; and tons of activities for all. Now THAT'S what I would call an update..Just imagine how much it would have cost tho? ----------
And think...What kind of default routes would MSTS 2 have? Upgraded versions of KHP, Cajon Pass & Sandpatch; Horseshoe Curve, Grand Central Station...(wishful thinking, of course)

The only beef I have with the new SD is the arrangement of the cabview. It's skewed slightly and makes it a tad hard to do switching. Plus, the lack of a headout view tends to bother me.
One thing I noticed, if you compare the quality of Ta's work, and then Kuju or M$, you can see a load of difference. Ta's stuff is loads better.--------------------One of these days, I'll get around keeping my promise to TA and repainting the whole E8 trainset into Wabash and Southern Colors.--------------------

The head out view is easy to add (I don't know how to do it). It is just a couple of lines to add to either the cabview or .eng file. The guys in the Locomotive Design forum should be able to tell you real quick how to do it.Cal Rasmussen

I agree that without MSTS, we would not be here, BUT, if it was not for the contibutions of 3DTS, MLT, TA, and the countless members that offer up free add-ons, I would have uninstalled the sim long ago.ChrisIt's not a game, it's a way of life.

And too, we're not even to December yet - who knows what else MS might have up there sleeve for us? If the SD40 could only have a swivle view like the BN Caboose, now that would be cool! I think the onus should be that MS/Kuju give us something 'improved' in a 'update'. A new 'view' coding for cabs, improved lighting, texture enhancements, something like that? I think many of the talented folks here and elsewhere have engine and activity making down pat now. Yet, single line block signals still can cause standoffs, Marias grades are still out of whack, sound loops still can cause problems over crossing bucks and bridges, and so on. So if MS would attend to that, and let the 'freelancers' do the engines and activities that have been filling Train Sim's Library since day one, I think we'd see less people here reffering to them as 'M$' (Not that I'm defending MS or disagree with using a dollar sign.) I just think it would be better for all of us as a whole. And who knows what comes in December - if anything?

I haven't seen it yet (going there now), but I have seen the raves. My rant about MSTS 2 a few weeks ago seems kind of stupid by comparison now. But hindsight is 20/20, so I will head for the site and go get it.
