If I try to install windows XP to a drive that already has stuff on it, and is already formatted (NTFS), will XP wanna format the drive anyway? or will it just install to it's own little corner and leave the stuff i already have there alone? Coming Soon: 2.53GHz, 1gig DDR Ram, ATI radeon 9700, All projects stoped until I get that system Built (3~4 weeks most)
XP can install on both FAT32 and NTFS, and since you have NTFS, you don't need to format. It will ask you to select wich partition to install into and as additional tasks, you will have options so format, so just select the partition and instal it. Pavlov
but i have the drive as one big thing with no partitions, will it still leave the existing data alone? Coming Soon: 2.53GHz, 1gig DDR Ram, ATI radeon 9700, All projects stoped until I get that system Built (3~4 weeks most)
Yap, just as Lawrance said it "should" but it's good idea to back up important unrecoverable data 1st. You don't want to get this error code : Winerr 01C - Wrong Disk Formatted. Sorry About That. Pavlov
