i have downloaded the ausssie lococ nrs,fr81s and nr81 class locos.i can couple them up to other locos and frieght wagons but when i have 2 or three of the same type of locoin a consist and i uncouple them from each other, they wont couple up again they just bounce of each other.strange, please help.thanks
Hi,When they bounce when trying to couple after uncoupling, probably the length is wrong. Take a look in the .eng file. Nearly at top you find this parameter: Size ( 2.70223m 6.9487m 16.2m ) Don't look at the numbers, they are from an other loco. Only used as example. The last value, 16.2m in this case is the length. Try to increase this value in steps by trial and error and see if this helps. Some extra hints: When in the game hit Ctrl+(numeric keypad)Pluskey. You see the bounding boxes in red. They should be just around the shape of the loco's. Bounding boxes should always be just the shape of the loco and not include the coupler. Now look in the .sd file. You will see the bounding box parameter like this one: ESD_Bounding_Box ( -1.331629 0.053528 -8.08 1.370784 6.114276 8.08 ) Add the third and six value, without noticing the minus sign. This gives you the length of the bounding boxes, 16.16 in this case. The length from the size, must include the couplers, so add the length of the couplers to the length from the bounding box and you have the value that should go in to the Size parameter of the .eng file. I'm attaching this to Dick's message 'cause he helped me solve the problem, and yes, it is the bounding boxes. The couplers of your rolling stock should stick out beyond the Bounding Boxes. If they do not, then adjust the bounding box, not the length of the loc. As mentioned by Dick, open the .sd file, and find the line that looks like: ESD_Bounding_Box ( -1.599695 0.012713 -13.060491 1.600305 4.105287 13.059509 ) The third set of numbers (EX: -13.060491) defines the rear end of the bounding box. The sixth set (EX: 13.059509) defines the front. If the coupler doesn't stick out of the box, subtract about 0.25 from the "offending" end figure, restart MSTS and check. You want the bounding box to just cover the engine or wagon itself, with the coupler sticking out. Oh, Subtract the value from the number, disregarding its sign. (i.e.: to shorten the rear end the new value from above would be -12.801461, NOT -13.310491) This works with North American-style automatic couplers, and I assume the same applies to chain-style couplers, or their buffers, as well. Thanks again to Dick, for helping me solve this problem.

thank u both,4 your help, yes the bounding box did include the whole loco, including the coupler,i reduced the third and sixth figure and this fixed the problem.thanks again i learned alot 2day thank u regards mark
