People moon Amtrak Train in California

In yesterday's newspaper I read that in California, U.S.A. many people mooned a Amtrak train as it went by. I don't remember much of the article because I just skimmed over it with my eyes but I'm surprised no one else brought this up. heh, according to the site, it actually helps amtrak with more passengers, Go figure!

I was going to participate in it this this year, but I was told I needed a permit to bear my ash to the passing train. Apparently there is a width restriction that keeps my ash from getting near the tracks.Maybe next year.ChrisIt's not a game, it's a way of life.

Yeah, I used to see this occassionally when I lived in So. Cal. I remember riding a S.F. excursion train around Sullivan's Curve in Cajon Pass and there being about 5 bare a**es up on the side of the cliff. Quite a site in the old El Cap high level cars!

Yep, totally bare hineys out there......The county sheriff was thinking of going to the event and arresting people....but then this year's event even had a bare bottom sticking out of a locomotive window. The train crews are now participating!!I live about 15 miles from where this event takes place.

There is nothing new under the sun...
People have been mooning the passing trains outside of Glenwood Springs CO for many years, even back into the Rio Grande Zephyr days.I have witnessed this from a dome on the RGZ and a Sightseer Lounge on the California Zephyr.And yes, they do reveal all.

What are loop burgers?I don't think the CA sheriff should go and arrest people, that's just stupid I think, they have been doing it for so long and it's a tradition now and now they're going to arrest people. Adam,A loop burger is a one pound double monster of a meal at the Keene Cafe, just down the road from the Tehachapi Loop, in California. 2 patties, chesse, bacon, all the fixings, and fries. And oh yeah, for some reason, they give you a salad! Being the only place to eat nearby, and seeing how a day of watching trains can make a person really hungry, it was loop burgers for everyone for 3 days ....including that toothpick, Curt!At least I only had 2 on my visit, not 3 like somebody from 3DTS did!ChrisIt's not a game, it's a way of life.

Hmm..Closest we got to a Loop Burger is a 'Moose Burger' at the local "Governor's" Restaurant...(And yes, the governor does indeed visit the restaurant from time to time)..Used to be a single 8" wide by 1 1/2" high patty, but because of health codes they had to reduce it to two 5 1/2" patties stacked up on top of one another...Comes with a huge toasted hamburger bun, pickles, cheese, lettuce, onions, and whatever else you want on it..and your choice of heaping plate of fries, a small dish of coleslaw, or another heaping dish of home fries (diced potatoes)...and the drinks go from small (normal sized glass), to medium (tall glass), and large (!!HUGE!! glass)
and the potato skins...they deep fry em, stuff em with bacon and cheese, then bake to perfection!
for those who can't decide, there's "The Debate": You get a heaping plate of onion rings, breaded mushrooms (huge), mozzarella sticks and chicken wings, served with dipping sauces ...finally, for dessert; "The Federal Deficit" (the most notorious and nefarious dessert known to Mainers..Six waitresses, the Governor himself and two cooks could not finish it..You CANNOT eat it alone! If you do, you get a prize): Capital Banana Split*; Brownie Delight**; Strawberry Shortcate; 6 Large Sundaes- Hot Fudge, Hot Butterscotch, Peanut Butter, Blueberries, Cherries, Pineapple, Walnuts, Strawberries, Raspberries, Marshmallow; A full banana, Biscuit, Brownie, Nuts, Jimmies, and loaded with Whipped Cream...NO TAKE OUTS. LOL If you try the Federal Deficit, be careful- a number of people with 'bottomless stomachs' have gotten sick in the attempt..There is also a small number of people that went diabetic because of the 5,000% DV of SUGAR in this thing..Not kidding, either..

Hey Waterville, I used to go there when I drove semi's to the Chinet factory. There was a place in Maine, east of Auburn I think, I'll have to go look at my atlas, but I t was a little place out on rte 3 (maybe rte 3?) I used to stop there on my way out to pick up woodshavings to take back to farms in Pa. and Md.Great food, and ice cream, now I have to go look.ChrisIt's not a game, it's a way of life.

There's even a treat for railfans: There's a yard-scale model trainset that loops throughout the different serving areas up near the ceiling And to get to the Waterville one, take Exit 34 off I-95 ..It's by the Best Western inn you cant miss it!

If you're railfanning up here by the Springfield Terminal Intermodal Facility in Waterville, there's a Burger King and a Dunkin' donuts less than 1/4 mile south of it, along the tracks; plus a convenience store right across from it.
