Good News: A friend of all of us here - a train-sim friend's wife - had successful surgery today. I've never met them, but we've shared a bunch of telecons and e-mails. They're truly Fine People.I am in a very upbeat mood with this very good news! So when I once again log on here and read this abcdefghij drivel, once again I cringe and try to put things into perspective. Alphabet-Soup, you've still not a clue.So bcde_campbellssoup, here are your answers:
1. UP engineers are paid a buck-three-eighty an hour, before deductions.
2. If you want a job, spelling and composition counts on your exam(s). Do you know what a dictionary and thesaurus are? Procure one of each, and Read Them. This is truly a constructive suggestion.
3. Sell UP your horse. You can then bargain for a higher hourly wage, and best of all, your horse will be much happier.
4. Better yet, sell Norfolk Southern your horse. They can use it as a template for their logo.Can't believe I am posting this... I must be tired - but really tired of this mushroom soup SH__avingCream.

"i know they get paid alot because when i tell people i wanta be a loco engineer they wouldnt say good money!".......They won't, and for good reason As far as I know (which aint very far); railroad personnel don't get paid that much per hour(probably about the same as a sales clerk or a librarian)...However, there are usually tiny increases in pay the higher up you go (management and up, for example)..If you really want a good paying job, either became a lawyer or a Novell system tech..(which i hear are some of the best $$$ jobs out there) How much do UP engineers ( class one ) get every payche – image 8

I m a conductor for NS. I have heard that some engineers on the 3rd District CNO&TP have made between 70,000-80,000. That is working pool freight, making every trip. 84 mile run, one way. The railroad is a very good job, and I thank God for blessing me with this job. I would get some info on the job if I was thinking about starting a railroad career. It can be a very demanding job, but also a very enjoyable job for a certain breed of people, imo. I ve railfanned for 15 years, and I have railroaded for 4 years and they are different worlds, and things are not always as they appear.
So do a little soul searching and check it out. I don t regret it. I couldn t see myself doing anything else!
