Does Pullman still make passenger cars? If not, can someone advise when they went out of business? And, if not Pullman, what company now makes the majority of passenger cars?Bill

there is a company called pullman leasing. They lease frieght cars, I dunno if they went out of bus or what not. I dunno if they are in anyway connected with the pullman passenger car manufacturing.

They're gone...the majority of passenger cars today would probably be manufactured by Bombardiar (Superliners, Acela..etc) in the U.S.Blake Harris

Gone, kaput, ran up the curtain to join the chior invisible.
I think they went belly up in the late 70's early 80's as the Superliners were the last passenger cars they built.
There was a major wreck on the IC where a freight train and an Amtrak mixed it up in the Chicago area and it was the maiden run for the Superliners so that should narrow the time frame
BTW the Pullman building was majorly burned several years ago when some winos,...err sorry "homeless" people set a fire to keep warm and torched the building

I'm not 100% sure but I don't think so...
I believe that Mafersa of Brazil still builds their designs under license however... Kinda like MLW built Alco designs after ALco went under...Chuck Schneider

RE: Budd still in existence?

Actually, it's BBD that owns all the former Budd designs. It you wanted new stainless steel cars or an RDC, for example, you'd have to visit BBD.Budd is still around, yes, doing what they've always been doing....making car frames/chassis.Dan
