Jul-22-01, 04:32 AM (EST) 1. "RE: NEED HELP ON INSTALLING LOCO'S" Ok, first of all it sounds like you deleted the default dash 9. Secondly, the download dash 9's need a copy of the cab view and sound folders from the default dash 9 by copying and pasteing from the default dash 9 folder to the download folder. I noticed that you have dash 9 on the end of the file path. The correct file path is; C:\programfiles\microsoftgames\trainsimulater\trains\trainset. If the dash 9 folder is gone, you should be able to replace it by a reinstall using the copy over files option after you click the add\remove button on the start up CD. In order for the consist editer to see the loco files they need to be complete and in the trainset folder. If files are missing from the loco folders, you will get error messages in the consist editer, of the type you describe in your post. There is a thread to a post here in the forum on how to set up the download loco folders. I'm assuming that you know how to use the consist editer. You can add routes and activities by using the unpacker in the utilities folder. This should help you get rolling again. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-23-01, 05:24 AM (EST) 3. "RE: NEED HELP ON INSTALLING LOCO'S" NO! If the dash 9 folder is missing, You use the CD to refresh the files for the game in the computer. Look, go into the trainset folder, check to see if the default dash 9 is there. There will be a folder that says dash 9. Default dash 9 means it came with the game. This is the folder that you use to copy and paste the cab view and sound folders from, to your new GE downloads. From your post it sounds like you already had done some downloads but something may have happened to the default dash 9 folder because you mentioned that it was replaced. The default dash 9 is on the CD. Use the CD to put the dash 9 folder back into the computer. The folder will know where to go. Then follow the file path in my earlier reply to send your unzipped downloads to. "Do not" add dash 9 to the end of the file path. Put CD 1 into the rom drive, a start up window will appear, left click add\remove, another window will appear, left click copy over files. The computer will do the rest! Use these key words "how to install download locos" to do a search here in the forum, to find the instructions on the correct way to set up downloads.
