May-29-01, 03:03 PM (EST) "Train-sim.com (MSTS) IRC Chat Room(s)?" Is anyone out there interested in a chat-room dedicated to bringing MSTS fans together? If so, I have extensive IRC knowledge and can provide people with instructions on how to enter an IRC chat-room, for those who don't know how. I have IRC op experience, as well, and could definately run the IRC room if that's needed.If not, I could help someone (Nels?) set up a room on a server for Train-Sim fans to meet in. We have been thinking about what to do for a chat system here. I've never really been all that interested in chat so suggestions are certainly welcome. If there's something that's popular and works well that we can install here we'll do it.

A pre-existing server on IRC (Internet Relay Chat) would be ideal, for now, unless you're interested in actually setting up an IRC server specifically for the websites. How about this... I'll set up a chat-room on, say, Enterthegame.com and post instructions on how to get there under this thread. If you're satisfied with the way it runs, even though few people will probably in the room at first, you can advertise it on the main page, or advertise it on your own in the message boards. I know this: First off, you'll need a dedicated server, running Unix preferrably, and on a fast, stable connection. The rest I have to do research on. I believe if you have registered domains (i.e. train-sim.com), you can create an IRC domain out of them, but I'm not sure. I was just telling my husband that there needs to be a chatroom set up for all of the MSTS fans and then I come across this message. I would be really interested in seeing something like that become reality. The benefits of immediate response are wonderful. All of those just getting the game can share their thoughts in real time and those that are still awaiting delivery can share their excitement real time.
