Jul-16-01, 10:05 PM (EST) "hello to all. I have a question" Hello, I'm new to the website and i wanted to interduce myself. My name is Patrick Ertle and I live in Fremont,Ohio. I really like MSTS and I really like the downloads of new cars and locomotives. My question is after I download a new locomotive and I extract to a folder lets say: C:\\Program Files\Microsoft Games\Train Simulator\TRAINS\TRAINSET\sw1200 How do I add the cabview and sound to make this engine work. I can add locomotives to my consints, but only if the lead locomotive is the ones that came with MSTS. I guess you all answered this question 100 times, but i'm not to good with computers. If anyone can help, please help. I would really like to drive the locomotives you all have added. Thanks Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-16-01, 11:05 PM (EST) 1. "RE: hello to all. I have a question" Open up the train set folder; there you will see all of the diesels and frieght cars in stock. There should be an almost complete folder of the locomotive you downloded and installed in train set. Left click the folder you want. It will open to a large explore window. you should find the readme and read it, and a assortment of files for the loco. On the left side of the screen you will find another explore window with all of the rolling stock in the trainset folder. look for the default "GP38" and "Dash 9". On the left side of these 2 folders will be a plus sign. Left click the plus sign and 2 folders will pop up below the default folder of cabview and sound. Right click on the cabview and a small window will pop up. Left click on copy and move the cursor to the large window with your new loco in it. Right click and another window pops up. Scroll to paste and left click. A cabview folder will appear. Do the same for the sound folder. You don't have to use the default folders after you get a large enough inventory of downloads. Then open Program Files/Micorosoft Games/Trainsim. Then you can copy by drag and drop or cut and paste files from one engine to another such as the cab folder. Hope this helps, bob Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
