Perhaps after Combat Flight Simulator 3 is released by MS in Fall 2002 they'll begin developing MSTS 2. I was kind of thinking that they may only work on one simulator at a time but I may be wrong but it was just a guess.Adam-------------------------------- HUGE Real Life Train Fan

RE: MSTS 2 release date

I don't think Train-Sim and FlightSim are related.Past history shows that Microsoft alternates releases of Combat Flight Simulator and the civilian Microsoft Flight Simulator each year. It appears they are still doing that.Train Simulator is developed by an outside team.

MSTS 2 release date – image 1

Exactly as Nels pointed out, MSTS is developed by an outside team called Kuju. Microsoft only distributes it.We have reason to believe (job postings at the Kuju website, hints from prominent developers who have been approached, etc.) that development is commencing on MSTS2 very very soon (if it hasn't already started).

Yes, I realize this but the release time will still be on the Microsoft Games websites. How does developing work? Does MS tell Kuju exactly what they want and Kuju has to make it?Adam-------------------------------- HUGE Real Life Train Fan

RE: MSTS 2 release date

Its likely that Kuju have received a brief from Microsoft. However, it may also be that Microsoft held a meeting and asked Kuju what they intend to do to improve on MSTS1. Microsoft, as stated, are distributing MSTS, its Kuju who are currently the developers. Kuju create the product, Microsoft pay them for doing so.

I'm guessing the release date of Spring through Fall of 2003. It could be Spring 2004, but that seems a little too long between releases...------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to involved with trains, the Union Pacific!MSTS 2 release date – image 2

RE: MSTS 2 release date

Transcon, you also have to think that only one version of MSTS has been released so it might be a while before they can get a good, routine schedule going with the hopefully near future MSTS versions. The longer they take the less bugs there are in the program. I personally think that programs have so many bugs because the programs are released onto the market too soon.Adam-------------------------------- HUGE Real Life Train Fan

RE: MSTS 2 release date

All most companies think about is the money. So what the public wants a game out right away, the developer and publisher have the choice, not the public. Then the public whines about tons of bugs in a game or other PC product and they were the ones that rushed it! I don't rush any programs out, just think of this people, the longer it takes to develope, most likely the less bugs in it, then you'll like it even more!Adam-------------------------------- HUGE Real Life Train Fan

Uhhhh, Georgi you still have some discovering to do. Midtown Madness 2 has tons of bugs.
I also experience a lot of lockups as soon as I enter my Windows Password during logon to my PC because many programs fail to load during the loading process just because of bugs in the programs!Adam-------------------------------- HUGE Real Life Train Fan

RE: MSTS 2 release date

Compare Midtown Madness to the real Chicago.... ROFL. Of course the outside borders are unrealistic, they have to end sometime, but Grant Park (including Buckingham Fountain) are VERY unrealistic!!!In the real Chicago, you can't see 5 feet into Grant Park, because there's so many trees! And Buckingham Fountain is much more complex than that simple model in the game.Plus, the overhead subway system, The "L", isn't a just a loop, and it doesn't even go past Dearborn Station like in the game...At www.centralgaming.net, there's a VERY good comparison of the game to the real Chicago.------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to involved with trains, the Union Pacific!MSTS 2 release date – image 4

RE: MSTS 2 release date

Heh, talk about Chicago.
Look at Tokyo-Hakone route. Kuju mejured station distance from Shinjyuku to Noborito in miles, then inputed them as kilomters.
I lived on that line for 2 years(Kyodo and YoyogiHachiman) and was really disapointed to see how bad it was in MSTS.

RE: MSTS 2 release date

LAST EDITED ON Aug-13-02 AT 09:45 AM (EDT)

There was a lot of bugs in MM2. You can't just drive right under cars that your racing against, especially with a Ford Mustang Fastback. The same that the other guy said, the borders have to end sometime in Chicago and San Fransisco. They could've at least have made a road going into and out of it that you couldn't drive on. They were supposed to make all the ceilings on the buildings in MM2 so you couldn't fall through them, guess what, it's not that way because they didn't have enough time to make it that way. There's a lot of other bugs in MM2, the flashing lights on the emergency vehicles look very bad in MM2 compared to the ones in MM1, the lights on that SLE Firetruck of Xacto's rule! In MM2 the light bars just have blurbs of flashing light coming off of them, the light bar doesn't even appear to illuminate. I hope MM3 is much better than this, at least the pedestrians actually have details on their clothes instead of just wearing plain clothes. Too bad MM3 is going to be for XBOX, at least that's the plan right now. In MM3 you can also see that the side mirrors are actually visible instead of them just drawing them onto the side of the paint job of the truck like in MM and MM2. With XBOX Games you can judge the games by the screenshots because the graphics are crystal clear in the games unlike PC Games that have edited screenshots for them.Adam-------------------------------- HUGE Real Life Train Fan

RE: MSTS 2 release date

Adam, except the going throguh celings and going below other cars, everything else is NOT A BUG. Those two points aren't real bug either.
Bug is critical error that prevents the program from running, not weakness of degin like inacurate roads parks or whatever.Georgi

>Does that mean they measured, let's say 1 mile as 1
>kilometre, or did they change it to 1.6KM first?
Yap, exactly. So where you get 0.5km(500m) station distance, its actualy 0.8km in real world, but again,
just as you said, they made 1mi=1km between Shinjyuku and Noborito station.
Also, on real stations, you can EASLY fit at least 11 cars of series 2000.I attached few shots of Kyodo Station. That station is not on ground anymore, they putted it up on - how you call it, bridge?
Just like highways in LA so that it doesnt block other roads.Georgi

http://microsoftgamesinsider.com/TrainSimulator/Feedback/default.htmWe also have more reason to believe that there'll be versions of MSTS in the near future just from what's on the URL above.
Georgi, you obviously need to learn more about computers and the correct meanings of the terms.Fastruck, if they put train sim and flight sim together people that want just flight sim wouldn't want train sim and vice-versa. Plus Microsoft would probably make more money by selling them seperately. They do have a package too that has Midtown Madness and Motorcross Madness in it and both of the 2's also. One has Monster Truck Madness in it too. It's amazing how after they release a game for a while they make a package with three games in that's cheaper than one of the games release prices. Same with the Mach 3 turbo razor I bought myself, they now have a package that has a thing of shaving cream in, 8 blade refills, and the razor for the price that I bought just the razor. They know they'll make more money if they release these values after the release of the product because everyone wants something that's new.Adam-------------------------------- HUGE Real Life Train Fan
