This past week there has been a lot of post that has nothing to do with Train Simming at all. If you have a post that deals with the game in some way, great. I don't care who has seen "Signs", nor do I give a second thought to 35 cows dropping dead in NC, and could care less about the capsule that pulled the miners out in Pa.Some of these post are being left my the younger simmers who think this is an open forum. Well, its not. Look at the top of your computer, and read what it says...Train-Sim discussion forum.Lets get this forum back to where it was, free of the garbage post, and ignore any post off topic. And the post that starts off talknig about young girls just to get attension, you really need to clean your stuff up. If you need that kind of stuff at the beginning of your post just to get people to read what you write, than you don't need to be here.Chris

RE: Is this a Train-Sim Forum or what?

This question has been raised many times before. The answer given by Nels and Macster is that this is a GENERAL forum and there are no restrictions on topics here. It would be nice to keep posts focused on railroad topics but not required in this forum. Now if you go to one of the other forums and post off-topic, you'll probably get run out of town on a rail! Cal,I don't qiute agree with your description of this forum. You say that it is a GENERAL FORUM yet it is described as a General RAILROAD Forum for input on railroading other than any specific simulator. Those threads that have absolutely nothing to do with RAILROADING should find another forum...in a Utpoian World. Have a good week-end!

Actually there is a SEPARATE Trainsim forum. I was never told stuff in the GENERAL had to be sim-related.

RE: Is this a Train-Sim Forum or what?

Theres been talk of a bs fourm(a more general fourm than this one) but Nels has yet to add his imput on this. Personally I think it'd be a great addition, and take some of the non-trainsim stuff out of this fourm.

Don't call it a bs forum though, remember that there's a lot of youngsters here!By the way SVTS, why don't you let the moderators handle it, if you don't own it don't pretend you own it, that's what I gotta say! If the moderators see a problem they'll handle it!Adam

Own it? What the hell are you talking about? I think you better re-read my statement and try to comprehend what it says. I'm not out to moderate but this site, but the "bs" as you referred to has gotton to be a bit much this week especailly.Chris

I agree. Let the moderators handle it. If you don't like it much, alert the message and see what happens. Nels said the general forum is about anything. No need to be a forum "cop". Many here might consider this post as a little "trollish". Kip

you ppls are all alike, and its starting to bug me. Always yelling and whining why there is so much non-train related stuff in this forum. If it was such a bad topic then im sure Nels would get rid of it. Let Nels and Mcaster do their jobs and just shut up for a while.
thats MY two cents!

I'll go along with that. I read the subject line, maybe delve into the topic and if it doesn't interest me I come out again. This happens with ALL threads as there are many that are TS orientated that also do not interest me.Bill

RE: Is this a Train-Sim Forum or what?

I agree with svts......this site is Train-sim.com...the title says it all. I come here for trains and railroad stuff nothing else....if I want news ,gossip or info on the latest brain transplant techniques I go to the appropriate sites. Is that too difficult to comprehend???
The tile of this section is GENERAL ....general RAILROADING forum not specific to any particular sim. It isn't a GENERAL forum. Is that clear and simple enough?? Anything not related to trains is not in the right section or even site.
Have a good weekend....and I don't want to read about it unless it's to do with trains...

96th_MalicePS: 99% of the time my posts ARE Train-Sim related, but when they are not it is good to know there is a place that i can put a question.I have been around here A LONG time. Now why would I go post a question in front of 5000 people that " I don't know " rather than post here because " Even if it's not Train-Sim related someone I KNOW here might find the post interesting ! "Just somthing to think about

RE: Is this a Train-Sim Forum or what?

Well this says "general" so it seems ok to me. So if you dont like it dont read it. As fas as not calling it a bs forum because of the kids, im sure they have all heard some form of cussing at home, todays music, etc. Cant babysit kids all the time.

If you're gonna do it, do it with precision.

RE: Is this a Train-Sim Forum or what?

I know that we are two nations separated by a common language but if you actually READ what is on the opening page you will understand why it isn't a general forum.Train-sim.com discussion forumsGENERAL
General RAILROADING forum, for topics not specific to any one simulation.
MICROSOFT TRAIN SIMULATOR
General forum for MSTSTrain-sim .com means trains etc...not planes, movies or fishing or..
General railroadind forum means talk about railroading not about what your aunt had for breakfast 3 days ago...
Genaral forum for MSTS means discussions about MSTS not about the weather in Kansas in 1942..None of them are GENERAL forums....as in "anything goes".. they are general for items relating to the topic in question nothing else. Before you lower yourself to answering this please read it again and again until you understand that this is for railroading only..the rest is unwanted,in the wrong section and on the wrong site....and I don't read it either but I also don't think I should see it here in the first place.
That's it folks.!!!!!
Have a great weekend.

Don't read it.I get a lot out of the "off topic" subjects when the Train-Sim stuff gets boring or when model building gets frustrating. The common thread here is Trains. So even the "off topic" is interesting to me because it comes from someone with a railroad perspective.

RE: Is this a Train-Sim Forum or what?

Well Mr. High n Mighty,
Since you wanna make a big deal out of this, let me ask, what the hell does this thread have to do with railroading. Not a damn thing. So it seems to me that you are going against what you are complaining about in the first place. Goes to show you that someone will make a arguement over anything. Well if you dont wanna see it either, I suggest that you not visit train-sim.com and that will solve your problems.

If you're gonna do it, do it with precision.

Black 5 (and indeed SVTS) stop being such utter wet blankets. As many have said, if you don't like the threads, don't read them. You have the air of TV critics and broadcasting standards officers, who decide that because they don't like something then no-one else is entitled to read it/watch it either.I say find the nearest railway track and tie yourselves to it - there, this post is train related now. RE: Is this a Train-Sim Forum or what?

black5,Ever heard of anyone getting kicked out of a model train shop simply for talking about somthing other than trains?
I would think not.
I used to work at a model train shop, and y'know what? Not every conversation was about trains! Those around who only wanted to talk trains simply did not not join in on the conversation! I have never once had anyone ask me to throw someone out because they were talking cars or boats or movies! Why should it be any different here??Anyway, that's my take on it.
Now then, let's all just get back to havin' some fun!------ BUZZ ------

RE: Is this a Train-Sim Forum or what?

Chris; Not sure if this is in reference to my off topic post or not, but here are my 2 cents. I made the subject real clear so that no one was falsely led into reading junk. Also, Nels has stated in the past that as long as things in the general forum are PC or simulation related, that was ok. I did start a topic on the geopolitical climate in Bornea.I get bugged on misleading subject matters, but guess what, I just back out and don't follow the thread. If we need a general forum for just trains, then lets get a new area for off topic stuff as well. I've found a lot of friends here from all over the world and sometimes need a break from trains.

RE: Is this a Train-Sim Forum or what?

Jeez, give it a rest! This is ONLY a Train Simulator forum. Not your life! Does it really matter if 1 out of 3 posts on the General forum is not involved with railroading? You don't care about the movie Signs? Fine then, just ignore the post! You don't need to start a FLAME WAR over a the following of rules in a Train Simulator forum!Better to have it here in the General forum, than in the Route Design forum where it is TOTALLY out of topic, right???------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to involved with trains, the Union Pacific! Is this a Train-Sim Forum or what? – image 7
