Anyone got this? I downloaded it last night, its 230 meg and took an hour with DSL. Looks incredible from the little bit I got to look at it, wife was mad I was on the PC so late. Its modern day and the graphics are better then Medal Of Honor. Differences I've read about is, you have to follow Army rules. I.e., you go through training before going on missions. No jumping out and shooting people. Also, in mulitplayer if you shoot your own players, you will be penalized and at some point thrown off the server. If you continue the behavior, your banned from all servers. Also, read that running around trying to kill people will not work. You must work in teams to survive. My quick 2 minutes last night on the firing range totally impressed me. In a prone position with a M16 looking down the sight showed that they have modeled the breathing so the site goes up and down slowly. After running, it moves more.Anyone on line with this? After training I'd like to hook up with one of you guys!

RE: Americas Army; Operation Recon

Trouble gave you the site. When you click on the download link, you get four choices, I went with gigex. Transfer rates were at 552,000 bps! I'm confused on the patches though. I read that a small patch was released a week after it was released because of on line play issues. Then the marksman patch was released on 8/2. Clicking the links for both appears to get you the same file.I read the Army has spent 2 years and 7 million on this project and used some very talented resources to develop it. Of course software companies are upset that it is out for free, how can they compete with that. Plans are to release major inhancements over the next 5 years.

LMAO,Yup its hard to be a " Military Buff " up here in Canada when the military is the LAST thing this government is concerned on putting money into.......The majority of my family ( parents / grandparents / uncle's and now 2 brother inlaws ) are all military. It stopped at me....I wanted to be a Fighter PilotBUT.1. I'm blind in my left eye ( cant drive trains either )2. I'm not too fond of heightsI'd be the first CF-18 pilot to fly 15 feet above the roads to get to my destination.heheLater Tim Kent

RE: Americas Army; Operation Recon

Here is what I read and if it's been a month since you tried on line, then I'd give it a try again. First I read that only about half the people wanting to get on line couldn't for 2 main reasons. One was bugs and the other was the Army had only a few servers up and they were overwhelmed. Basically only 100 people could get on. The article says that more servers now exists and the patch fixed the bugs. I don't have the link here, but if you go to www.simhq.com and look for an article yesterday and follow that link, you will get to a 5 page review.Hope that helps and once we get online, we should all try to get to the same game and do cooperative battles! What do you think?

I have got all the Basic Training done and now am online. What a game !! Actually more like " What a Sim "I got my sharpshooter badge , so as soon as I can its " Off to Sniper School "Oh well off to do a little Train Simming. It's 7:40 AM and theres nothing the girlfreind loves more than to WAKE UP to the sound of gunfire on the other side of the househeheMind you when she's sleeping 90% of the grade crossings don't have horns being blown through them either.......hehe. Theres the advantage to living close to the mainline. With my soundsystem its hard to tell whats real or not !!Tim Kent

Ok guys, I was on line last night in....oh crap can't remember the name of it, but its the first one with the laser tag stuff. Anyway, some tips for those that haven't started this up yet. Make sure you register online prior to doing the training. I qualified sniper and lost the scores because I hadn't registered already. Now guys, why don't we pick a server to get on and a time period and go for it! What do you all think?

RE: Americas Army; Operation Recon

I thought about a server with password so it would gurantee that people from here got on. Not sure what it would take, not that technical.I was doing the pipeline earlier today as well. Was going well until we all seemed to get bounced off. Right after I killed a bad guy!I'll pick a couple and post them. Also, my kids are in a clan on MOHAA and their names all start with the clan so it's easier to find each other. Is there a way to have a display name different then userid? If so we could all start are name with something like TS_. Just a thought. Back to go and get that sniper badge. Last two times missed it by one shot!

RE: Servers to try out!

You got the answer on numbers. My other suggestion is, don't shoot to just shoot! If you don't have a good line on a target, let it go down and get a miss. I've had 4 misses and not had a negative effect. You can fire 4 times and miss and get sniper, took me 5 times of redoing to do it.At sniper school, it's tough. After practice you get one shot! Of course you can redo as well.
