Got the DVD yesterday and watched it last night. God I love this movie. Tonight I took a look at the second DVD. The special edition this fall with have 30 minutes of cut scenes put back in and they seem to help with the story. It will be 4 DVD's and comes out in November. They also show scences from the 2 Towers which are not in trailers. Looks even better. Funny thing is, they talk about some of the new battle scences and new technology that gives each animated character it's own personility. Like we are seeing in new PC games. If you don't have the DVD, get it!

Kinda strange how it took eight months from the release of the movie in theaters to have it on DVD and VHS eh?------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to involved with trains, the Union Pacific!
That is nice, but the best DVD that I have is Blackhawk Down. That is tha $#!t. A classic example of how the US should mind their own buisness. But its a damn good DVD.
>Kinda strange how it took eight months from the release of >the movie in theaters to have it on DVD and VHS eh? Howdy. It is my understanding that New Line Cinema wanted to hold off on the DVD/VHS release a little longer than normal in an attempt to keep interest up for The Two Towers coming to theaters this December. At least that was the info I read at the movie site.I am a Lord Of The Rings Fanatic from WAY back. I have been waiting over fifteen years for someone to do a live action movie of it.BTW David, they are releasing two different extended versions in November. The four disc Extended and the four disc Extended gift set. I am going to have to get the gift set.New special features, 30+ minutes of extra footage, and the Argonath statues in miniature made by WETA.I gotta have it.I got the DVD right after work Monday/Tuesday morning. I watched disc two, but I am having a couple friends come over to watch it Sunday, so I am trying to wait until then. I might have to watch it a couple times before then to make sure the DVD isn't flawed in anyway Thanks, Sam
I first read The Lord of the Rings when I was 7 years old, and have read it at least once a year since. I met my wife when I made a casual observation about the book she was reading (The Two Towers), standing in a registration line in high school (we used to write notes to each other using the Tengwar letters and Dwarf Runes). I eagerly awaited the Ralph Bakshi animated production...I still have newspaper adds, a Gollum button and several "Frodo Lives" buttons, posters, and even some jigsaw puzzles. WHen I heard about Jackson's production, I was not too excited, because I believed that it was impossible to make a live action feature that would do justice to the original material. As the time went by, and my wife followed everything on the Tolkien websites, I remained critical of the entire project. I was intrigued by the casting of parts for Gandalf and Saruman, I thought John Rhys-Davies was a great choice for Gimli...but Elijah Wood as Frodo? Give me a break!I went to the midnight opening and was struck dumb. Everything about this movie is well done. The music is outstanding...almost a character in it's own right. THe visuals are more than stunning. Peter Jackson has sacrificed some elements of the story, and taken some liberties with the characters and storyline, but the overall impact is beyond impressive. The casting is perfect.Even if you are not a Tolkien fan you will love this movie simply because it is so well done.Go and buy it now!Elen sila lumenn omentielvo!
