Hello:Has anyone figured out how to modify the default big trucks in MSTS American traffic generated by the carspawn so that cars don't submarine under their rear ends at railroad crossings?Am I the only one who's annoyed by this?It seems to be something related to the boundaries of the truck shape: there must be a difference between what's drawn and what is included in the bounding box???Quentin

RE: MSTS default trailer trucks

I dunno if anyone has ever actually proven either one by testing, but there are two theories about the single number for each vehicle in the carspawn.dat file. One theory is the number affects how often each vehicle type is generated, the other theory is the number affects the spacing for the vehicle behind, IE, the bigger the number the further behind the front of the vehicle the following car will stop. I know that sounds dumb, but the defining rotation point is apparently at the front, so the carspawner calculates distances from the front. Therefore (if this theory is correct), increasing the number for the truck would cause the vehicle behind it to drop back to that minimum distance. SIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0v1t______9

CarSpawnerItem( "US2Pickup.s" 6 )
CarSpawnerItem( "car1.s" 13 )
CarSpawnerItem( "car4.s" 13 )
)That's the carspawn.dat from USA2, what's odd (again assuming these numbers are actually for spacing) is that the truck has the same number as the second entries for car1 and car4. The first entries for those two cars is 4, so why they used 13 for the second (or even why those cars are repeated) I don't know either. I would suggest you experiment with that, change the number for the truck to 25 and see if that fixes it.

Hi,Yes it is tested!!! When one of the many release of the Ohio came out, there were much complaint about this problem. Someone reached the solution to increase the numbers. I have checked it and the number behind the car is the spacing between the cars. Here is the carspawner of the Ohio route:

CarSpawnerItem("o_van2.s" 20)

Something else I've noticed is that the cars will actually back up if they are caught under a gate that's going down.------------------------------

RE: MSTS default trailer trucks

I don't know much about modding the sim yet, but common sense tells me to make the tires on the trucks & trailers smaller. How it could be done I don't have a clue.

RE: MSTS default trailer trucks

One thing I noticed is when you have you train stopped and you have a crossing blocked after a certain amount of time the cars and trucks will drive "through" your train.MSTS default trailer trucks – image 88 MSTS default trailer trucks – image 89 MSTS default trailer trucks – image 90 MSTS default trailer trucks – image 91 MSTS default trailer trucks – image 92 MSTS default trailer trucks – image 93 MSTS default trailer trucks – image 94 MSTS default trailer trucks – image 95 MSTS default trailer trucks – image 96
