May-24-01, 12:37 PM (EST) "A Rare Sighting!" Just this past Tuesday (5/22), i was down at the St. Louis Amtrak Station picking up tickets for my upcoming trip Friday. As i pulled up, the Texas Eagle had just departed for Texas. As the train pulled out, behind it we saw a UP passenger Train! I have seen these cars before - i have even ridden them on a steam excursion. As in UP fashion, the paint on these cars is spectacular. But what stunned me completely was what was at the head of the train. There, leading this consist of gorgeous passenger cars, was #6936, a DD40AX! Operating! Again, the paint was beautiful, and the loco's motor sounded smooth as silk, rare for a GM engine, especially one as old as the DD40! As is the case in such instances, my wife forgot to bring her camera
Quite a site to behold, let me tell ya!------- BUZZ Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
