LOL Look at this, I'm downloading the FBL for the third time now, it seems when I tried to reinstall Train Simulator recently, it ERASED several files in the Train Simulator directory when I decided to cancel the install....

I stole it. You guys gotta wake up to the fact that this ain't a country club, they let anybody in here, including guys from Chicago. You gonna leave stuff laying around and not expect it to dissappear?

Hee-hee, seroiusly, the \TD folder having missing or corrupted files causes that, and the trainsim installation might have somehow deleted it. I had one of the default routes get corrupted during a crash, and I was gonna re-install just that one route, so instead of uninstalling anything I just unchecked the boxes for all the other five routes, figuring it would then install only the one I had checked. So it installed the one I had checked, and deleted all the ones that were already installed because their boxes were not checked! As far as downloading for the third time, unless you saved the zip to disk, extracted, installed, then deleted the zip afterwards, it wouldn't be necessary to download again. If you keep the zips for your downloads in a storage folder somewhere, that's a corruption proof backup copy, just unzip it again.

Of course you can store it, but the storage space adds up!I only backup a few things, like the Flashing Crossing GatesWHOA! I backed up the FBL after all! LOL And NECv2 HOW COOL! I stored all of them in a ZIP file!------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to involved with trains, the Union Pacific!Uuuh, where did the Desert Go? – image 5

That one I had to hunt up the author, I've had it so long. Steve Colbert's C&NW safety caboose. Sorry to disappoint you, but all them old skins are out of date, out of fashion, and siiting around abandoned on unused sidings somewhere.

RE: Uuuh, where did the Desert Go???

Situations like this make me think one thing should be said to the whole community:MAKE BACKUPS OF YOUR ROUTES!!!!!Every time I download a new route, set it up, and get it running without any error messages popping up (and most routes lately have been good, NO problems...) -- I immediately copy that entire route to a CD. Blank CD-R's are cheap enough....and then I usually use a screenshot of a train on the route at a unique location to make a CD photo label.I read somewhere in these forums ages ago that you CANNOT make a disc of a route as there will be read/write problems, etc. I have NOT had any problems doing so....had to start over completely from scratch a couple months ago, and believe me, everything worked smooth as silk by having made CD's of each individual route, plus my CONSIST and TRAINSET folders. Saved a lot of re-modification of locos that I have done modifications to (usually just the sounds, plus updated files that have been made available in the File Library here and there....)Again, blank CD-R's are CHEAP -- and the very little cost of them is a heck of a lot cheaper than dealing with the headaches of downloading routes all over again, and setting them up again. It's just a matter of sticking the Route CD into the drive and copying it over. Works every time for me.
