RE: What kind of BNSF paint scheme is this?

I have observed that BNSF uses a lot of used equipment and they repaint just enough to cover the old logo and put their name on it. I have seen many instances of this in the Columbia Gorge.

There was a picture of a unit that looked exactly like that in the last issue of The Railroad Press. The caption explained that it was in fact due to fading. Some units held their color very well, and some faded to yellow rather quickly.

So you're saying the BNSF orange paint is flawed??? LOLI actually don't mind that yellow color. I'll call it "Heritage III"------------------------------------------------------------I'll never let go of the railroad that inspired me to involved with trains, the Union Pacific! What kind of BNSF paint scheme is this? – image 5

Actually yes, the orange paint is bad. This is only happening to a few number groups that were built around the same time. Around here it's called the "Rotting Pumpkin Scheme".Jeff
