With only one option, this is not so much a poll as a statement. Poll results here are intrinsically biased, but I think they're only a bit of fun anyway. If you're not interested in them, don't respond. But don't deny other people the right and the means to express themselves.Sincerely, The Toolman (who is puzzled as to the point of such a post)
With all these useless polls that have suddenly sprung up, it is extremely difficult to find current legitimate messages. Cal Rasmussen Beaverton, ORColumbia Gorge Route (15% done, The Dalles yard and dam(60%) in progress)
I have to agree. How about marking a poll as such, rather than just having it appear as a regular message - for example, putting "Poll" in the subject line? I notice you've done this yourself. Or have some system that marks a poll in a different colour or something in the list.I have to return to a suggestion that someone offered in a reply to another post - polls could be sent away to their own dedicated section on the forums. This would perhaps distort the results of the polls even further than they already are, but unfortunately that might have to be the sacrifice that is made for the sake of retaining an orderly message area.It has also been suggested that the more useless polls will fizzle out as the people who post them become bored of the new toy, or run out of pointless poll ideas. Only time will tell if that will be the case.If not, then a dedicated poll area within the forums might be the way to go. This is, incidentally, more-or-less a complete U-turn on my reaction to the idea when I first heard it. It might be the way to go though. I will post a poll (!) to find out people's opinions.Sincerely, The Toolman
