Jun-27-01, 08:11 PM (EST) "Creative Labs Sound Problem" I've got a Creative Labs X-Gamer sound card. When in external view and the locomotive drives off the side of the viewable screen (i.e. all of the locomotive sound is on one speaker) I get severe sound distortion (crackling, popping etc). I've not had this problem with any other program and it occurs only in the situation above. Does anyone know what the problem is or where I might find an answer.Thanks. Jun-30-01, 07:53 PM (EST) 2. "RE: Creative Labs Sound Problem" I've got the latest drivers. Also contacted Creative. They gave me a long procedure to remove the Creative 16 Emulator (DOS drivers) and try to get the Creative Live on an IRQ of it's own. I removed the drivers and reinstalled from scratch etc etc. None of this worked. The cracking and popping really detracts from the enjoyment. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jun-30-01, 09:07 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Creative Labs Sound Problem" Well, your were right after all. I downloaded the latest version of SBLW9XUP.exe and installed it and my problem is solved. A week ago I had downloaded the latest Creative Live software and had assumed that the latest drivers where included in it. Perhaps they were but if so they gimppy. SBLW9XUP did the trick. Thanks for the help. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-04-01, 02:11 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Creative Labs Sound Problem" It's not your sound card, it's the wonderful sound files that MS gave us. If you go into the sound folder and listen to all the files individually, you'll see they sound that way even when not listened to from within the game. It's a flagrant oversite... how MS could have allowed those files to be distributed is beyond comprehension. Hopefully their patch will correct this.I will be going into the game when I get time and just delete those files that suck... nothing else to do about it for now.Mith Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-22-01, 09:46 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Creative Labs Sound Problem" Well, I didn't solve my problem after all. I still get the crackling / popping sounds when I've got a diesels in a close up view and when the majority of the "3D sound" is coming from one of my two speakers.I did try playing a few of the wave files themselves but don't seem to have any problem there. It's only when I'm actually in Train Sim. and only when I'm in external view with a significant "low base" diesel sound. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
