Mar-24-02, 09:44 AM (EST) "Acela/HHP Headout?" Does anyone know if the engineers on the Acela (still think its a dumb name...*Metroliner* sounds so much better) and HHP can stick their head out the window like the older locomotives or do they stay hermeticlly sealed in the cab waiting on an electronic signal from the conductor? The windows don't look like they are big enough to check for passengers the "traditional" way.Gary Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-24-02, 07:50 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Acela/HHP Headout?" The 12" to the foot scale boys have a set of powered mirrors that retracts into the front Corner posts....I always wondered it we can duplicate the effect....
No time to get there yet, however!------Chuck Schneider---------

Mar-24-02, 08:20 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Acela/HHP Headout?" Must be a slow day at V-NARC world headquarters. All you need is a line in the acelahhl.eng file right here: After this line:
CabView ( hhl.cvf )Insert this line:
HeadOut ( 4.0 4.0 5.0 )The numbers are distances in meters from the center of the loco. Right Chuck?I just whipped those numbers out of thin air. Maybe the V-NARCS can sharpen it up a bit and get closer to the mirror!BTW, don't forget to back up the acelahhl.eng FIRST. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-24-02, 10:09 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Acela/HHP Headout?" Correctomondo! However that is not what I was wondering about! I was wondering how to duplicate the "view" in the read-view mirrors!------Chuck Schneider---------

Mar-25-02, 00:15 AM (EST) 7. "RE: Acela/HHP Headout?" Hmmmmm good question. Sure looks like a window you can open from the inside. Might be fun at 150mph!

Mar-25-02, 09:29 AM (EST) 8. "RE: Acela/HHP Headout?" Exactly! But what you have is a "remote control" mirror that is normally retracted into the forward corner "post" and when it is deployed the engineer can look back along his train... It is usually used in stations only!------Chuck Schneider---------
