Mar-21-02, 10:55 AM (EST) "Ugly GE" I'm sorry but...
in my own personal opinion...
The BQ23-7 is just about the UGLIEST piece of equipment I've ever seen! One must pause to wonder if the designers at GE have completely lost their collective minds!Bob McWilliams Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

The reason it was created i think is to eleminate the need for cabooses. we can talk on and on about our dissagremants, but i don feel like it. .Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 1 Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 2 Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 3 Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 4 Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 5 Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 6 Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 7 Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 8 Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 9 Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 10 Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 11 Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 12 Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 13 Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 14 Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 15 Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-21-02, 11:45 AM (EST) 2. "RE: Ugly GE" Cyclone is right, the cab was in inteded to replace cabooses.
When I released the engine, I did a little blurb about the history of these units. If you are interested, you can read it here: http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID5/2999.htmlAs far as looks is concerned, we have to keep in mind railroads are businesses and their business is to move freight as efficiently and cost-effectively as possible. And "looks" certainly takes a backseat to practicality. Railroads do not buy a piece of equipment because it will look nice to railfans. Sometimes it is easy to forget that railroads are not here for our pleasure, but have a job to do. Just my 2 cents, guys!Highball!John D. Peterson

Mar-21-02, 11:54 AM (EST) 3. "RE: Ugly GE" I love that thing! I ran it last night but a situation arose that I had to stop the run and fix something or I'd have pictures to post. I love the interior. You can see the seat arrangements and everything. That would make a great one for an interrior cab IMO. I think it's a pretty engine myself. I'll bet there was alot of goofing around going on with all four of them talking about last night's rootbeerfest too. Bad though if they one of them had beans....Great job!Rich Garber Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-22-02, 07:32 PM (EST) 11. "RE: Ugly GE" When I first saw that loco in the download section, I took a quick look at it and passed it by. After seeing the pictures posted in this thread, I agree it is ugly...so ugly I'm going to go home and download it tonight. The detail and workmanship looks outstanding. It will be a pleasure to have it in my inventory.Cal Rasmussen

Mar-22-02, 10:24 PM (EST) 12. "RE: Ugly GE" I dont think he was refering to your work was bad its just the locomotive itself as in the real one. there are a few locomotives I am not fond of myself including most Diesels.
I run the Steam Locomotives most of the time but I do have a large collection of Diesel locomotives mainly just to look at but I do run them now and then. Don Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Mar-24-02, 10:49 PM (EST) 15. "RE: Ugly GE" G'day Don,> I run the Steam Locomotives most of the time
> but I do have a large collection of Diesel locomotives
> mainly just to look at but I do run them now and then.Don, your much like me, my first passion is STEAM....., but I do have a good collection of Diesels ( boxes on wheels ) please no comments. Everyone to their own.
I do not look in the Diesel section much. I rely mainly here on the Forum, as if a Diesel is pretty good, it is sure to get a rave or mention here. Anyway I noted this so called UGLY engine note and got curious.
Well I thought this engine looked fine, so I downloaded it (them) rearranged them both into the one folder together and they are well done and I do like them. They will stay in my Trainset folder stabled in the roundhouse for future drives. Here can I make a suggestion. When one mentions any rollingstock here on the forum, maybe they be kind enough to put the name of the ZIP file concerned that is in the library in their post. Fortunately these engines were not far in on the diesel list. I'm not from US so never saw an engine quite like it before. Of the American engines I'm more of a Turbines, DD40x and Sd90mac person, but this engine is what I will say NICE... It is well done and different.Anyway, "Beauty, IS in the eyes, of the beholder"Message Areas - "Ugly GE" – image 34

Mar-25-02, 06:22 PM (EST) 16. "RE: Ugly GE" lol Beauty is in the eye of the Beer Holder hehe that is what my friend always says.
Na I think it looks fine just a little differant than I am used to.
I Dont see many other engines from here but GP35's in wich Kyle runs them.
if I had to pick from the Diesel Locomotives the GP35's would have my vote. not to powerful not to fast but pulls a good size train if you get enuf of them working togather.
when I was Younger one of Kyle's Engineers payed me to watch the water fill on there sprayer they were pulling with a GP35 and while I did that I took a peek into the cab of the cab and checked out the engine.
I had at one time Thought about Trying to get a Job with KYLE but a friend that I was living with got in trouble and I moved back here and didnt get a chance to check it out.
