Feb-26-02, 01:46 AM (EST) "Enhanced Membership" Hi. I'm pretty new to train-sim. I've downloaded some wonderful routes here. I've had many hours of fun with the routes I've downloaded here for free. I've corresponded with some of the people who developed these routes to thank them for what they gave me. Many of them responded. I think the people in this group, whatever you want to call it, are very good people. Anybody who gives me good stuff like this for free is good people! I like MSTS so much, in spite of its little faults, I'd be glad to pay for the things I've downloaded here for free. But naturally, if I can get them free, I won't pay for them. The routes I've downloaded are even better than the routes that came with the game. And it's amazing to me that Microsoft can publish such a great game for such a small price. I'm not surprised that Microsoft doesn't put a high priority on fixing the little bugs in MSTS, because MSTS is not their biggest thing.Yikes! I'm getting away from what I want to say. Nels, who put train-sim on line and maintains it, is doing a great service to people like me who want to add to their fun with MSTS. There is no fee required. It's absolutely free. But for anyone who gets carried away and wants to help the cause monitarily, I found out there's a big reward. Today I decided to make my $30 contribution to the cause. I'd give that much to each of the developers of the great routes I've downloaded, but I'm not Bill Gates.Now listen to what happened. Up to now my download speeds have been somewhat disappointing. I would start out with 30-40 Kbytes per second, and it would gradually drop down to five or six Kbytes per second. It took me over an hour to download each of the great routes I've had so much fun with. No complaint from me! It was well worth it. But after making my small contribution today I downloaded over 100 Kbytes per second tonight in prime time! The hour or so download was reduced to five or ten minutes.Maybe this was a fluke. Maybe tomorrow I'll have lousy download time. I really don't give a damn. Nels and all the contributors to this web site have put out so much for my enjoyment I'm glad to contribute maybe 15 cups of coffee, depending on where you buy them, to the cause. For anybody like me who loves the railroad, MSTS was a wonderful Christmas gift from my family. The things I download from train-sim.com are gifts from people who don't even know me. Nels treats this site as a "clubhouse" and we're all here to further our enjoyment of the "virtual iron horse". Your membership helps Nels out more than we can imagine, and for about $.60 a week it's like having Christmas every day.........Welcome aboard.
