You could try updating all your drivers and installing directX 8, or better than that, wipe your hard drive and install fresh. If you have an older computer, Pentium II, or before, stick with Win98. I have yet to see ME work right on anything but a Pentium III. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-03-01, 01:38 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Windows ME " I guess it is all from one's perpective. I have 3 PC's all running ME with good results.
As far as MSTS is concerned, I had the lockup blues until I discovered newer motherboard (VIA 693ATX) drivers(4). At least one had something to do with video. Now I seldom get a lockup. Oh yeah, especially when trying to do the auto bug report thing.BTW, seen the new NYC steamer for DL at trainartisan.com. If this is a look of things to come, we are in for a treat. Don't give up people. After all, it is brand new. And face up to it, we do get to pay the privilage of beta testing MS products. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-02-01, 11:51 PM (EST) 3. "RE: Windows ME " I gave up with Windows 98se. Too many crashes. I have two computers both running Windows ME now. I will never go back as I have seldom had any problems and never any problems when running an application. The only times I have had problems with ME was during bootup it will sometimes hang. Maybe once every 30 to 35 boots. 98 would freeze alot during programs. I also check Microsoft and the hardware manufatures about once a week for any updates. As for ME only working with P-III's. I have built three computers from parts and two are based on AMD K62's (450 & 500), the third has a P-II 266 and I am just about ready to jerk the board and put in an Athlon mb running an 800 processor. I must be lucky as I love ME and would never go back. Everyone else seams to have problems with it. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Jul-04-01, 07:41 AM (EST) 5. "RE: Windows ME " If you use a VIA chipset, it is always best to install the drivers that came with the MB, usually on an included disk, these are going to be the best match, and give the best results, same with most devices, except video cards, where they usually get two weeks to write the drivers and then update them monthly for about a year until they get it right and the next version of the card comes out and everyone starts over again.
