Just one minor correction Mel Blank was the voice of Bugs & company
Chuck created Charas such as Road Runner Marvin Martian ETC.
a prime example of Chuck's work is Duck Dodgers Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-24-02, 03:40 PM (EST) 4. "RE: Cartoon legend leaves our world....." Sorry to contradict a contradiction, but CGW409 is right. Mel Blanc was already on board Leon Schlesinger's team in 1938 at the time "Bugs Bunny" was first created by Jones and worked with "Bugs" Hardaway the wisecracking cartoon writer, to bring "wascally wabbit" to life. Blanc is the one that first voiced the "Brooklyn" accented rabbit often patterning "Bug's" vocalizations after Hardaway. Blanc was always the voice of Bugs (and Warner's other characters) except when he was hospitalized as a result of an auto accident. Until he recovered, Daws Butler mimiced Blanc's voices for Warner Bros.http://one_foggy.tripod.com/blancobit.htmlChuck Jones was actually a gifted animator and later director of Warner Bros. cartoons and was responsible for creating most of their famous stable of characters.http://www.achievement.org/autodoc/page/jon1pro-1Both of these men were indeed geniuses and along with a handful of others . . . the most notable being Walt Disney, provided the entertainment we all grew up on.-Verne Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

I lay down corrected. What I should have done was look in my Animated Cartoon shorts manual first. Sorry

Feb-26-02, 04:18 PM (EST) 10. "RE: Cartoon legend leaves our world....." How is this nit picking? All that was said was setting facts straight. I believe you feel if someone comes on here and says Walt Disney died today, we should all just go, oh sorry to hear about that and keep our mouths shut. When did correcting that with a no, Walt died years ago become nit picking?David Klemm

Feb-27-02, 08:53 AM (EST) 12. "RE: Cartoon legend leaves our world....." Intelligent reply or maybe a guilty reply? Seems you live in a completely grey world and can't handle facts. Hey I got one for you, Sd40-2 have B trucks, not C trucks. Oh and the Sun rose in the west today.David Klemm

Feb-27-02, 11:06 AM (EST) 14. "RE: Cartoon legend leaves our world....." Boweavel;Maybe it's a difference of the use of whatever. When I say it to someone else, it means think what ever you want I'm sticking with my position. It doesn't mean that I'm agreeing with them and their position. For me there is a difference in nit picking and someone correcting me because I stated a fact wrong. If I stated that Pearl Harbor occurred on December 7th 1940 I would consider it a nit pick that I'm corrected that it was 1941. Nit picking is that the air house is 12 inches long, not 10 inches.

Feb-27-02, 11:29 AM (EST) 15. "RE: Cartoon legend leaves our world....." The reason i see it as nit picking is because you along with some others..bothered to take 5 minutes out of your day to correct me, yet couldnt leave a thought to chuck at the end of your post.. So to me i thought "why did they bother?" shrugged my shoulders and thought.."just another Train-sim nitpik'..
I mean i dont really care if it was Mel that i remember as the voices..My point was that a great man had died..I loved his toons.. All i ever saw on the credits (in big words as a kid) were chuck jones..The news when they announced it also noted he was the very first voice for the toons.. So to me..He was the Voice. So yes.. I may of got it wrong.. So what.. That wasnt the point of the thread. I also see you make reference to trainz again about the bogies.. Like i could care if it was an A, B ,C or Lego bogey... I never had a bad word or feeling towards you, ever.. But as soon as it was known by you that i had ditched it in and gone to Trainz.. All of a sudden im looked at like some scum on the bottom of a B bogey.. Why the program of my choice to play with trains effects you or anyone else is beyond me.. In the end there the same game.. A train game, Of which i dont care which one i run..As long as it runs well.Wow.. Wasnt that a rant.. Anyway, like i said.. Never had a bad feeling toward you before..Dont particularly want to start now.Catchya'One another note.. Spike Milligan passed away today.. Just another person i was a huge fan of..But i wont bother writing a bio on him...Rest In Peace Spike..You were truly a legend.... Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Feb-27-02, 11:42 AM (EST) 16. "RE: Cartoon legend leaves our world....." BoweavelI don't think I have a bad feeling towards you and didn't get one even after you went to Trainz. Doesn't matter to me as we still have a common love of trains. You use trainz, I use MSTS. I like the Illinois Central you like ???? (don't know what you like), but get my point? I also grew up Mel and Chuck and back in my younger days, there was only about 10 stations available to watch. So we all watched the same thing and it was Saturday morning cartoons. Bugs Bunny, Road Runner, Yosemite Sam etc. Also, I didn't make the bogie reference to something you said. I pulled that out of thin air as an example. So if there was some turmoil around it before with you then it was dumb luck on my part to choose it.I don't know who Spike Milligan is, name doesn't ring a bell?David Klemm
