P.I. Engineering, Inc., To Launch A New Division: RailDriver
RailDriver is dedicated to developing hardware for train cab control of simulator software and digital model train control.
Williamston, MI, July 29, 2002: P.I. Engineering, Inc. a leading input device engineering company, officially announced the launch of its RailDriver division at the NMRA national show in Florida. This division will concentrate on the creation and control of digital and model trains. The primary product of this division is Train Cab Control consoles. In addition the company will also produce digitized versions of historic railroad cyclopedias to aid in digital and scale modeling of trains. Visit RailDriver.com for more details.
"We have designed and produced mice, keyboards and game controllers for our company and others for years. Combining that expertise with my love of trains and scale modeling seemed natural," stated Michael Hetherington, president of P.I. Engineering, Inc. "The flightsim people have their joysticks. The racing games have steering wheels. I don't think we should have to use the mouse or keyboard to control our trains. We should have the right levers and gauges."
About RailDriver Cab Controls:
These controllers provide realistic train cab controls for a personal computer. Prototypical levers and buttons combine with 36 function keys to create the ultimate train simulator or layout control.
Digital and analog displays provide information in a realistic form unlike traditional game controllers or keyboards. Levers and displays tell operator the current state of the cab at a glance, just like a real train.
About RailDriver Cyclopedias:
These digital reproductions of the Locomotive, Car Builders' and Maintenance of Way Cyclopedias, (originally published by Simmons-Broadman) contain unabridged text, and high resolution drawings and photos from the original volumes. The information in the text, photos and thousands of dimensioned drawings is ideal for digital and scale model builders, railroad historians, rail fans and locomotive shops preserving historic engines and cars.
