Nope, no unfinished YN3 or illusion. That's the only C&O paint job left on CSX and yes, it is an active SD40! That's her original C&O paint, although it looks like the cab was repainted with CSX blue at one point. With the last 4 Chessie GP40's in storage in Waycross, this unit, along with 2 Seaboard units, are the only predecessor paint jobs left on the system.Chris Denbow - Baltimore, MD

RE: Now here's an interesting looking locomotive

Hmm.I need to dig through my pics, but somewhere I remember taking an interesting picture...well, series of pictures.
there was a railroad near where I used to live that had one of the funniest policies...or set of policies rather. They connected with NS and CSX, so there wasn't much chance in them ever going under. My comments are in paranthesisPOLICY 1: No locomotive purchased will ever be more than four axles.
(this is understandable. Much of the track is in bad shape)
POLICY 2: All locomotives purchased will be Used.
(money problems)
POLICY 3: No operations on sunday. (Don't ask)
POLICY 4: All locomotives must be maintained in the state at which they arrive at the railroad at time of purchase. (simply put, they didn't repaint or re number them. There were at one time two number 2 locomotives.)
POLICY 5: All paint schemes are to be maintained, and if nessecary, repainted every year. No new schemes are to be used. (This made for an interesting railroad. At one point they had Two Chessie System GP 30's, (maybe 38), A Southern GP 30 long hood front, One Rio Grande GP unit. Black and orange colour, one high nose CNW GP 9 *mint condition paint*, one slug *modified with some kind of remote control to operate independantly, and two CP Gp units.)
POLICY 6: The main may be blocked. (It wasn't uncommon for the main to be blocked so bad that it took two hours for the engineer to get past one switch. Move everything, move past it, head back and put things where he got them.)
POLICY 7: The speed limit is always 30 miles per hour. (rickety track)
POLICY 8: The signal lights are to be ignored. (They never worked right, and with one train a day...it didn't matter)And by far, the funniest I heard of them doing:Policy 9: Above all else, if your locomotive breaks down, or derails, if it blocks traffic; notify the local authorities. However, if this happens on Saturday, place flares and cones around it, and we'll deal with it on monday.
This actually happened. Drove the city nuts. (One engine dropped off the track and meandered into the road on a saturday night. Unable to fix it, the railroad put road flashers around it and cones and left it there till sometime monday night)
