Message Areas - "Northern Pacific" – image 2I'm so glad we've got TSM, now instead of complaining about the lack of steam/1st generation diesel era freight cars I can do something about it.The voice of insanity in a seemingly normal world. Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-29-01, 11:33 AM (EST) 12. "RE: Northern Pacific" Hi,
Yes, I want some of those as well. My favorite trains to drive are piggybacks and reefers.

"RE: Northern Pacific" Message Areas - "Northern Pacific" – image 3 Moclips local just coming out of Pacific Beach towards MoclipsMy, the NP is really going to live again. Wonderful new GP, and now these reefers! I'm going to have to get TSM! Then I can have (with luck and a lot of learning) an S-4 ten wheeler to pull my Moclips Local! The power was usually an S-4 in steam days.Tim, the caboose is in Beta, by Frank Gabbard. I could send it to you, he will want to know you're on the list, so he can send updates. I'm hoping he will get the cupola interior done soon. I have the 5 view on the back platform and my legs are getting tired! That, too, brings back memories.Jack Anderson (Mt Rainier Scenic RR) and I rode with dad another day, out to the cranberry plant at Ocosta. The Moclips local went here every other day. It was about 25 degrees, and, since there was no wye or even a run around track the train backed out there. We rode on the back platform of the caboose, all 15 miles at 10 mph. Oh to be 13 and "stupid " again! Good thing the caboose stove was cookin inside. While they switched, we thawed out!Steve Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top

Dec-28-01, 11:24 AM (EST) 4. "RE: Northern Pacific" It's a branch I've added to the PO& N where there was some extra space! This is the way I'm learning how to use the route editor, and got carried away. When I figure out DEM's, I'll do the route from scratch. I've made my own terrain textures for the ocean beaches.

Dec-28-01, 05:25 PM (EST) 5. "RE: Northern Pacific" Hi Steve, very nice work for someone who learn how to make route...
I love the tracks along the seaside. Very pleasant.
For my part, I do reskining for locomotives and wagons but I regret not to be able to make route. I have a lot of scenic ideas but it's stay on my mind... that seems to be too complicated for me.
If you need particular reskin, do not hesitate. It will be a pleasure...Best regards from Belgiumphil

This is a GP7 in Texas & Pacific livery. I used to see these a lot as a child. I would be happy to furnish a GP7 engine file.
Thanks so much if you are interested!

Dec-28-01, 10:40 PM (EST) 7. "RE: Northern Pacific" Hi Phil,Do what I did, start real small and simple. I downloaded the PO&N, and started learning to use the route editor to place trees and buildings along the route. Next, i saw a big area by Huff Refinery that was empty. By adding track to an existing siding, you don't foul anything up! First I wanted a log dump, so I deleted all the refinery buildings (they didn't really fit the great NW and Washington state anyway). Then I added a bit of track and figured out how to lower the terrain and ad water. It just snowballed from there.I was scared to death of the route editor, after reading many posts saying how tough it was. After using it for a month, I have to say, it is no tougher than learning to use Paint Shop Pro. Yep, it takes some time, but once you learn, it's a breeze. At least modifiying an existing route.Steve Remove | Alert Edit | Reply | Reply With Quote | Top
