Since wait points seem to have issues and freight trains pause at platforms, I changed the wagon type of a caboose to carriage. The simulator stopped the freight train and loaded passengers into the caboose. Now this becomes a topic for debate because a caboose is a freight car that carries a train crew. Would it be acceptable to classify a caboose as a passenger car for the purpose of stopping a freight train on a platform?

HiIt's the overall effect you're after. If the loco stopped near where you want does it really matter how you did it?One thought, does the train end up with Passenger Speed Limits? If not, go for the Cab that holds thousands GaryG

Thanks for the response. I definitely agree with you about obtaining the effect, but I wanted to check the reactions of altering a wagon type before posting an activity. I got a suggestion to use a combination car at the end of the train on the skinning forum.I have not tried to see if it would alter the speed limits, but it would be something to try sometime.

Actually, you don't have to change anything to get any train to stop at the station markers, the blue bars that show in the AE. The determining factor as to whether a train stops or not is the 'stops' box at the bottom of the "service editor" box. All you have to do is put a check mark at the point you want the train to stop. The length of stop can be adjusted using the platform properties box that can be accessed by right clicking on the blue bars then select properties at the bottom of the box that opens. The higher the passenger count the longer the stop. There are many uses for this feature. It allows you to set up an AI passenger train to stop at a station on the main while the player freight is working a yard. You can use this feature to retard the progress of an AI train. You can have one freight stop on the main to "let off" someone for your player train to take somewhere, I used this in my 995 activity.

I found that the freight did not respond to the increasing passenger amount on the platform without a carriage wagon type in the consist.
