Has anyone be able to have an AI train slow to a stop and not disappear? I want to have a train arrive in the yard, slow to stop and stay visable. Right now, the train gets to the end of its specified route then it disappears.Ideas?ThanksWally

RE: AI Trains that don't disappear

Put a waiting point where you want the front of the train to stop. Then, set the waiting time really high. This is the method that I use and it works perfectly.

I've never used waiting points so I wouldn't know, but couldn't you open up the .act file with Wordpad and edit the time there instead of using the AE which does reset the time to 0?Regards,

RE: AI Trains that don't disappear

Someone a while back suggested using two reverse points, right next to each other; you might try a search and see if you can find the original post. I haven't tried it yet, myself.MC

RE: AI Trains that don't disappear

AI trains will stop for a signal and not disappear. Happens all the time when the player interfers with an AI path, for example, by changing a switch setting. If you can get an appropriate signal to change and stay that way, you've got it. (Just a theory. Away from my MSTS computer at the moment, so can't test it.) Charlieps: Anyone understand why AE resets the wait point delay? Seems to defeat the purpose of having one in the first place, doesn't it?

RE: AI Trains that don't disappear

If you put a single reverse point reealllly close to the end of a siding our a switch, then it'll stall the train indefinetely thereby achieving your goal.you may have to expirement to get it in the right spot....use the vcr playback tool to test it...if it works in the playback , it should work in the sim.Longhairedwizard

RE: AI Trains that don't disappear

The AE neverreset my wait points, and I have a few on my current activity. One makes a train wait for five minutes, and one that I just modified made a train wait for seven. Both worked AoK. Now making a dang signal work, that's another story...
