Why this signals is red when I'm reversing towards it? (first pic). My train will run on the leftmost track, to both directions. The AI trains won't get to the same tracks at all(anymore...)I'm making a new activity using the LV tracks, but I can't get back to the main as this signal is red, but it is working correctly.
(pic 2)There no AI traffic on that track, as the trains run on the other tracks(pic 3) The arrow pointing down is the second AI train, the first runs to the other direction and it shouldn't cause the problem.
Arrow coming from the right is my train.I also got this funny accident when I threw a switch with cars on it...
(pic 4)
The activity is attached with consists and equipment list

RE: Signal is red when reversing

Just a thought......noticed a lot of car spawner traffic on the adjacent road........could that be over taxing your computer memory and fouling the AI train performance. Try shutting off the car spawner and see if it works without it.

RE: Signal is red when reversing

I did a test today, and the topic title says the result. The signal is working when I drive normally towards it.
Does it work only if the starting path runs past the signal?I tried with different loco, different paths and without other trains on the main. I even rebuilt the small yard, but that was to fix the ugly gap on the rails. The signals after that signal are correctly linked and working.

RE: Signal is red when reversing

Enocell,
I'm not sure I totally follow your explanation of your problem, but I'll toss this to you from a recent experience of mine.I had to go forward and reverse through the same signal 3 or 4 times in the latest activity I'm building. All manual switches.
I could not get permission to pass the signal unless I had plotted the path through the signal FOR EVERY TIME I NEEDED TO PASS THROUGH IT.
Then it worked
So a single forward path will not guarantee a return pass through the same signal.
And here's a little goodie I've started using to test the signals. With a single loco as the player consist, I run the entire length of the activity as quickly as I can without picking up or dropping off any additional cars. The single loco assures that I fit in the reverse points and I can run the entire length a lot faster than if I have to actually pick up any traffic.
It's very agravating to be testing the activity and get 2 hours into it and bump into a suprise red signal. The above way would find it in about 15 minutes.Regards,
Denny

RE: Signal is red when reversing

Hi,I'm a new forum participant, and I've also had a problem with signals and reverse points. One thing I think I've found is that I can plot a reverse path through only one signal. It seems that if I try to plot a reverse path through two signals, the first signal--as I'm reversing-- will change, but the second will not allow me to pass.
I'm wondering if any one else has had this experience.
By the way I'm also running the "skeleton consist" through the activity since sometimes the problem will not show up in the VCR feature. Thanks
Yardmaster

RE: Signal is red when reversing

I placed the reverse point at the end of this path and this signal worked. But there is another similar place which has the same problem, so I will do like Kuju(at least with MP): just remove all signals from branches, so there will be no signals for trains coming from the branch lines. Only mains will have signals now:-(

RE: Signal is red when reversing

Hiya Enocell, I'm real happy about that new eastern roads 40' boxcar pack.......will be using that for my CR activity pack.As far as leaving your sidings and such unsignalled, you can still have Ai traffic on the unsignalled portion, they are still controlled by the Ai dispatcher to avoid collisions with the player train. usually they will give way or priority to the players path...and will proceed after the player clears the siding or junction they're on.

I had a problem like that once, except i could never get it fixed. I think it was because there were several AI's on the mainline of Marias Pass. It wasnt a reverse point or anything. It was a freigh going from Whitefish to Essex.Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 9
