I am having difficulties with some of my track (derailing, decoupling etc.)After deleting several track sections in the vacinity of the problem, I notice that there remains a red pole sticking out of the ground. I can't delete it and I suspect that this is related to my inability to fix the track.What is this thing? - and how do I get rid of it?

You probably have the same problem as I had/have. Hopefully tdb rebuild works for you. If not, I hope you have working backups, and not too old.
