Step 4 of "Creating a New Route" says:"4. Right-click in the desired region on the map to display the context menu, then click Zoom Region. Repeat this step to zoom in further. If you need to zoom in still more, right-click in the region, then click Zoom Window. Use Zoom Window as needed to zoom in to the desired degree. If you have a vector file for the region, you will see red lines indicating existing real-world rail routes."I have a vector line indicating a real world railway. How do I get that railway into my route? Is it even possible? Also I created a marker file as follows. I loaded my newly created FLAT NO TERRAIN route into the route editor, and used the Lat and Long displayed to create a marker in the marker file. This after I had tried a bunch of other methods of deriving LAT and LONG to no avail. The marker file is named correctly as per the TECH DOC's. Yet when I load the route there are still no markers showing, and no Rail DB. This is so confusing. I thought MSFS was confusing but I have mastered the art of scenery and 3D object creation there. MSTS must surely be BETA?????Any help or comments appreciated.Ray Hallock

RE: Route Creation Question
There is definitely a problem with markers.I even went into MS DOS to edit my mkr file but when I went back into the route editor...no markers. Everything is laid out as per the template from the other routes. There must be *something* either missing or not doing correctly!

RE: Route Creation Question
If I remember correctly, marker files (as with many of the other text-type files in the game) need to be in Unicode text. Wordpad can edit Unicode files just fine it seems, but how to create a brand new file and save it in Unicode using Wordpad I don't know. A Unicode text editor may need to be downloaded. This is speculation, based on what I remember from the TECHDOCS (I don't have access to them right now). If you know otherwise, please don't flame me

RE: Route Creation Question
I used WordPad as suggested in the tech docs. It seems to work OK but what could be the problem (not sure) is the number of underscores in the UNICODE header as the techdocs being printed out, just show a solid line. If you know how many underscores there are, that would be appreciated. I don't see very well either so that doesn't help. Also wondering .. are there any standard pain programs that will read .ace files? or is there something that will convert them from .ace to an editable format? I know the techdocs explain how to convert from bmp or tif to .ace but not the other way around.p.s. checked out your site. Looks great. Keep up the good work.Ray

RE: Route Creation Question
I believe all you need to do to create a new Unicode document is: 1) Start WordPad 2) Edit as normal. 3) Save As... not Save... and select Unicode Text in the filetype dropdown.
