What are .rdb and .rit files. My route doesn't have any. Should it? I see them in other routes. Cal Rasmussen Beaverton, ORColumbia Gorge Route (Construction resumed on The Dalles Dam)

I think I figured it out. That's the road database and I don't have any roads...yet! Cal Rasmussen Beaverton, ORColumbia Gorge Route (Construction resumed on The Dalles Dam)

You answer your own posts more than anyone I ever saw. I'm guessing you also talk to yourself while route building. Probably get good answers then too. Bill Burnett

You'd be surprised! BTW, track database rebuild was successful with NO casualties. Boy that was some ride while it was going on. That's the first time I've had a need to do it. Cal Rasmussen Beaverton, ORColumbia Gorge Route (Construction resumed on The Dalles Dam)

RE: What are .rdb and .rit files.
Lessee if this link still works, http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/4559.html Yup, it does. PO&N5 still don't have an RDB or RIT since I haven't added any roads, but one odd thing I found is if I use a road section to sculpt terrain, it sometimes saves and writes an RDB file while I'm screwing around with it. Since I delete the road section before saving, the new RDB file is empty, and the next time I go to load the route I get "track database failed to load". Well, there's nothing wrong with the TDB, dumb program can't tell the difference between the TDB and the RDB, so what's REALLY failing to load is the road database. Deleting the .rdb file fixes the problem, but boy was I ticked until I figured it out! You ever get bored and want something crazy to do, extract a new route, look at the files and folders. Nothing in the \World folder, no tsection.dat, no .tdb. Add some track and save, there's the tdb, add one piece of dynamic track, there's the tsection.dat, and the tile you layed them in generates a \World\~.w file. Add a siding marker, get a TIT plus a \Tiles\f.raw file. I'm still trying to figure out how to do a succesful TDB rebuild after adding signals, the signal entries end up in the TDB and TIT both, and probably a few other files as well.

>>Boy that was some ride while it was going onI was surprised when I rebuilt the database of some smaller route, it was really wild ride(almost like my 90mph record in HBS's 45 degree curves!). Rebuilding my route takes 15 minutes and it's like snapshots at ~1 min intervals... Now after the signals I haven't rebuilt the database, so I don't know how much it would take now.
