I attempted to correct a minor problem with the track at Chama on the recently released D&RGW narrow gauge route, by Andy Miller.
Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 2In doing so, I put a A1endpnt10dlft.s track piece at one switch and completed the track connection with a dynamic track piece. It went together pretty well, except I had to elevate the A1endpnt10dlft.s piece 1.305 to get it to line up with the other switch it is supposed to connect to. As a result, I've got a misalignment in the track where the A1endpnt10dlft.s meets the A1pnt10dlftmnl.s switch.
Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 3Since only the other end of the A1endpnt10dlft.s will elevate, I am asking someone to please explain to me what I've done wrong here. It aligned with the switch just fine before I elevated the other end.I can get a train through this rough piece of track, but the train "steps" over the bad joints.

I busted the oil pan on the car (rough roads) and drove all the way from Cumbres to Chama coasting down hill without an engine.

RE: Track problem at Chama

What are you doing wrong? How about opening the Route Editor? That's always good for a few problems. The only thing I can think of is to work back the other direction with the dynamic track. Get your two turnouts where you want them, and then put down the dynamic piece. You should be able to manipulate that easier than either of the other 2 pieces.I didn't notice that problem. I probably haven't run that section enough for it to get my attention. I'll take a look at it again and see what I can find. May be this weekend before I get to it, though.AndyAnd thanks for the pic of the REAL route! TrainSim may be good, but it'll never be THAT good.

I tried the track repair from both directions. The first attempt looked even worse. When I first arrived on the scene, it appeared to me that you used two pieces of dynamic track. Maybe I should have just adjusted the one overlaping piece intead of replacing the track. I might re-install and try that. The first piece of track snapped to the existing switch just like it's suppose to do, but when I elevated the other end, it appears that the top of the rail on the pivot end dropped down, kind of like the bridges over the river in Chicago, if you've ever seen them in action. Here's a shot at Cumbres, and a close-up of the station sign. Maybe someone will make one for you.Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 6Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 7
