After about a two-month haitus I'm back at it again. Heres a couple shots of South Akron Yard (PRR) circa 1969. This shot is looking southwest toward the northern end of the yard from above South Main St, with Firestone Tire Plant #1 on the left.
Here's a shot from the other end of the yard looking northeast, with the PRR turntable and roundhouse in the center and the rear of the Firestone plant in the background. Alan Garrett's Paper Mill also makes a nice power plant for the Firestone Tire factory.
Yes, it's a huge yard, and the beauty of it is that the first 7 tracks of it are PRR/B&O/EL mainline, so I don't have to worry about populating the whole yard. I've ran activities with the yard partially populated with loose consists and still managed to maintain about 15-20 frames/sec.Now I'm in the process of heading southwest into Barberton. When finished, the route will have the entire Akron & Barberton Belt Railroad, to include the huge Babcock & Wilcox and PPG plants in Barberton.

Cheers,
Jeff Leslie
