Is some on makeing the RF&P route?

I know it's not the RF&P; but I'm currently building the Portsmouth Subdivision of the Florence division. It will -Probalby- run from Chesapeake,VA to Weldon NC. This route so far is fairly simple. If all go's well the route should be done by mid-summer. I also plan on modeling the NS route from Norfolk VA, and will run it atleast to Roanoke VA. And in the far far future; maybe for MSTS part 2 and a half I will do a route that will run both CSX/NS and will include spots like Lamberts Point,Coillier,Rocky Mount,Richmond and points north up to MD.

The RF&P would be pretty simple wouldn't it? I think it only goes from Richmond Va to Washington. Right? If someone does decide. I close to Fredericksburg Va. And could provide information about the area. Also I have an old (from my teens) contour map of Fredericksburg that shows all the railroads and sidings.

The RF&P went from the Crystal City area in D.C. to north of Acca Yard in Richmond, VA. Most people would agree that any modern-day RF&P route would have to include the Auto Train Station Area in Lorton, Virginia. Also, the semi-street running through Ashland, VA might be a problem for designers. The real world route includes passenger trains such as the Virginia Railway Express commuter trains, Amtrak's Silver services, the Auto Train, Amtrak's Northeast Direct Services to and from Newport News, VA, and an assortment of CSX freights, like any intermodal, manifest, coal, MOW, or the "Juice Train", lead by old CR or CSX units. The old CR locomotives are often lead units on the modern route, because most CSX units are not cab-signalled, the signal system on the RF&P. Most of this info came from the excellent Mainline RF&P guide at http://www.mainline.railfan.net/guide/rfp.html or from the Pentrex Auto Train tape. I hope all of this can help a prospective designer.

Don't know why Ashland would be a problem...that is one beautiful town. Just put your double track down and then lay parallel road sections on either side. Tough part would be the 3D modeling on those beautiful college buildings along the track/road. That and winding through the battlefield south of Fredericksburg are may favorite parts of the RF&P.I have pointed out in previous RF&P threads that if you really want to run this line, the north 40 miles, basically from Fredericksburg to Washington, is available now in TrainMaster, which has much superior train physics compared to MSTS. The less said about the limited cabview-only graphics, the better
