Well.....the Fostoria route has taken a severe setback. After all the track was in place, and buildings were going down, the wonderfully easy to use Route Editor began spitting errors of all types up at me, and eventually locked the route up never to be seen again. The route had to be deleted, so I have started all over again from scratch. I have next to nothing laid down as of yet, except for the Toledo Terminal and it's track connections to Fostoria. Well.....I'll keep you all up to date as the route progresses.

RE: Update on Fostoria Route

Evidently you are a C&O fan, or CSX perhaps. Ahh yes, Fostoria. When the signal plant was redesigned there during the double tracking of the B&O, 3 different signal companies blew their wad trying to get it right. Finally one did - 3/4 of the signal designers of CSx that have retired in the last 10 years work there.I am retired from CSX signal dept., and one of my thrills of a Amtrak trip around the USA in 1/99 came about because of that Conrail accident west of Toledo. The Capitol Ltd. was rerouted, Toledo-Fostoria-Chicago. Fostoria is quite a bowl of spaghetti.J. H. Sullivan, P.E. (retired)

RE: Update on Fostoria Route

Sounds all too familiar. I am the creator of MBTA and I am on my 8th or 9th try at building it. I've learned some painful lessons and one of them is not to put in any signals until ALL the tracks are laid.
Good luck and don't let the computer beat you.Joe: Alias SimerjoeUpdate on Fostoria Route – image 1 Update on Fostoria Route – image 2 Update on Fostoria Route – image 3 Update on Fostoria Route – image 4 Update on Fostoria Route – image 5

RE: Update on Fostoria Route

First attempt we got about 40 miles of track down before losing it. Our second attempt has about 60 miles of track done including the route's namesake Fostoria, Ohio (aka Iron Triangle) and Toledo, Ohio area trackage. No signals on this second round until all track done. We will try to get some screenshots up this week but it is a busy time right now. Check back from time to time for updates. If you would like check out this temporary site for what our goal is and some screenshots from first attempt. http://personal.bgsu.edu/~nhuss/MSTS.html nrhus

RE: Update on Fostoria Route

I make a back of my route every couple of miles or so and also back it up on a CD at least once a week. Lost my hard drive but the CD had evey thing but a few miles. I have 190 miles done - mostly mountains - some with with double track. The backups have saved me many times.
