Signals, ask a question and I'm pretty sure I can answer it or know where to get it. Route making, not so. Perhaps I'm at the 101 level.Tile limit, what is it and how do you find where you are with regard to limit on any given tile?Does this limit include all objects?Telephone pole config file, how do you replace the default pole graphic with your own? I've already tried replacing the S file name without success.Thank you
Hank

RE: Dummy 101 questions

LAST EDITED ON Apr-01-02 AT 11:25 AM (EST)I haven't fooled with those much, I'm a little leary of telephone poles since I used them in a route once where after placing them I couldn't delete them. Are you having problems finding the basic chain? I'm guessing telepole.dat calls for:SIMISA@@@@@@@@@@JINX0r1t______TPoleConfigData( 1 TPoleConfig( 4
Filename( telepole.s )
Shadow ( teleshad.s )
Separation ( 50 )
Wire( 0.0 6.7 0.391 )
Wire( 0.0 6.7 -0.39 )
Wire( 0.0 6.2 0.228 )
Wire( 0.0 6.2 -0.219 )
)
)Changing the filename and shadow would point it to a different set of shape files. I haven't decompiled either of those, but a quick SWAG would be that telepole.s looks in \textures for telpole.ace (note the slightly different spelling, which makes people give up on the idea of making a program to alias route files!), and the teleshad.s would look for teleshadow.ace.
Quick way to check that out would be to open telpole.ace in TGAtool2, send it to PSP-7, flood fill the image with orange or red or something, and replace the ace file in a route with the wierd texture. Ahhh, hang on a minute, now you've gone and roused my 'satiable curtiousity (good thing I'm not an Elephant Child, O Best Beloved), and I gotta check it out.Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 1
Yep.
Oh yeah, there's a discussion on tile limit:
http://www.train-sim.com/dcforum/DCForumID6/4262.html
I have reached 1000 objects on one tile, but haven't reached the size limit yet. The placement window:

Gives you the number of objects on the tile you're on.

RE: Dummy 101 questions

One thing to note: Change the tpole.dat will only affect NEW telephone poles created after the change, any existing ones will stay the same as the .s file is also written to the world file (same concept as mileposts).-JohnCS
