Not a good question, route building is a very involved process. I have been working on the L2 route for about 2-3 weeks now, and I am not finished with the loop yet, I have 5 1/4 stations, and about 3/4 of the structure placed, and have not even begun with scenery. I plan to release a teaser with trackage from the loop to Roosevelt/Wabash, Merchandise Mart, and possibly Clinton/Lake, once I have that finished. My current plan, not to spoil anything is to then build the SSRT route from Old Congress to 39th (yes cut off from the loop), or to then build the State Street subway. (My Decision, not to be decided by railfan popularity, so don't complain, you all already have 2 subways with L1.)-Chris Chicago-L

Hi Chris!I didn't realize that you were starting over from scratch. I take it that this way is much easier than trying to modify L1? I'm just curious as I'm still trying to wrap my mind around all that's involved in building a route. Thanks for sharing!Henry

RE: More Eye Candy for the Chicago-L
Yes, and no. I actually have all the scenery finished for the west end of the Congress branch of L1, and have fooled with the elevations enough to trick the naked eye into thinking it looks better than it does. The whole thing was, 160 stations were too close together, and were all generic. The subway was still above ground, and cars were still driving through bridge supports. These, as well as many other things caused me to decide to start over and do a real bang up job on it. I mean, I don't think it makes L1 a bad addon, but it was the first of it's kind. L1 was released before any other new routes, so it was bound to have some bumps in it. I mean, it did come a long way from it's original form, but as time passed more and more greater pleasing routes came about. L1 was, and still is fun, but it's time for me to graduate Kindergarten, and move to the first grade. Right now I'm working on a set of tight radius switches for it, to allow Junction 18 to be more realistic. Each station has it's own set of station signs, which I am trying to do in the correct signage type (KDR, Current Graphic Standard, Frankle-Monigle, etc...). Each station is modled after it's real world counterpart, and the track structure is made of steel girder riveted construction. There is actual third rail, just to name a few things.-Chris Chicago-L
