I've been thinking of many routes that would be good to build. Here is a list of a few I've come up with.
Amtrak:
Northeast Corridor from Philadelphia to Providence.
Harrisburg Line from Philadelphia to Harrisburg.
Michigan Corridor from Michigan City, Indiana to Kalamazoo, Michigan.
BNSF:
Bakersfield to Stockten.
Aurora, IL to Twin Cities.
CP Rail:
Chicago to Twin Cities.
Schendacy to Rouses Point.
CSX:
Philadelphia to Kearny and Oak Island (mainline, make part of SEPTA lines and maybe combine it with Amtrak Northeast Corridor).
Selkirk to Boston.
Selkirk to Chicago (Water Level Route).
Washington to Waycross/Folkston.
Baldwin/Jacksonville to southern Florida.
Baldwin to New Orleans.
Washington to Cumberland.
Connelsville to Pittsburgh.
NS:
Port Road Branch (Perryville to Enola).
Harrisburg Line (Philadelphia to Harrisburg).
UP:
Proviso to North Platte.

RE: Route Suggestions

I don't think that was his point to the post....come to think of it, I really don't know what the point was. Maybe he is hoping someone will build a route for him? I dunno. Most of those routes would be tool ong to build, or in the case of the NEC from Philly to Providence, next to impossible becasue of the populated areas along the way.Chris Bogley

RE: Route Suggestions

While on the topic, I would nominate either the Rutland Railroad or the Central Vermont. Great scenery and more than enough operational possibilities, especially if simming the steam era. Just my $.02.dAN

RE: Route Suggestions

I suppose I should have mentioned that I lived near near the Green Mtn. (ex Rutland) mainline when very young and near the CV mainline (and Winooski sub) in Essex Jct. from my early teens on. Maybe that's why I think they'd make good routes .Dan

RE: Route Suggestions

Trackwork and and a few scenic vignettes are done for the Port Road(Perryville, MD to Enola Yards and Harisburg). Harrisburg to Phila(Keystone Corridor) trackage is complete from Harrisburg to Parkesburg as are some scenic vignettes. Both of these routes share trackage from Royalton to Harrisburg though in release there will be some differences even in this section.
Because of the thrashing over the Middle Division I'm being particularly picky in building and cautious about releasing these routes. That aside, here's a sketchy review of work done.Port RoadVince Cockeram allowed me to use his Perryville tiles from the NEC and I've also connected to the Middle Divisions yards at Marysville and have integrated Harrisburg, Enola and the Rockville bridge into both the Keystone Corridor and the Port Road. This means that a bridge between the NEC and the Middle Division exists but no date for release is projected. There is a lot of water(Susquehanna River)
five Dams and hydro electric plants to create. The Trestles and dam at Safe Harbor is one of the scenic vignettes that are finished.
Keystone CorridorThe Keystone Corridor will be more oriented to passenger traffic and the Port Road to Freight traffic as they are in real life. The Lancaster to Columbia branch will be fully incorporated into the Kestone Corridor, but only represented as a long spur on the Port road to create some interchange traffic. The Reading branch comes into Harrisburg again as a long spur and the Cumberland Northern and Western Maryland will be similar extensions crossing the river from Wago Junction to Harrisburg.
These won't be released any time soon and maybe not before MSTS2 is released and then perhaps only if these routes can be ported over to MSTS2.Bill A. aka pennsyfan2

RE: Route Suggestions

What I mean by the NEC between Providence and Philly is to do it in sections. Another thing that might work is to build the NEC in sections. Extend the MBTA NEC to New Haven. Build the NEC between Philadelphia, Trenton, New York, and New Rochelle. Recommended inclusions are the SEPTA R8 Chestnut Hill West Line, Delair Line to Pavonia Yard, Buselton Industrial Branch, NJT's new yard at Morrisville, Princeton Dinky, NJT North Coast Line, Penn Station, and Sunnyside Yard, and the Hell Gate Bridge. Then, in a seperate route, the Metro North-owned portion of the NEC between New Rochelle and New Haven. I would also like to see the Amtrak Springfield Line from New Haven to Springfield. Is any building the RFP main from Washington to Richmond?

RE: Route Suggestions

Seaboard Air Line's 80 miles of track work from Tampa to Wildwood is complete and the scenery is about 10% done. Phase 2 will be the continuation from Wildwood to Jacksonville via Baldwin junction. This route is being built circa 1967 before the merger with the Atlantic Coast Line into the SCL.

I've been considering doing the CP from Chicago to St. Paul in modern times, and a friend of mine who goes by xlspecial261 has done the route from Milwaukee to Portage for the 50's-70's era. I just need to finish up the project I'm on first before I decide to start another one.Shawn

RE: Route Suggestions

I second the motion for CSX Washington-Cumberland, infact, I recomend the entire CSX operations in MD, since they run in a triangular fashion, connection with each other.
Esspecially, since I live on the Metropolitan Sub (Benning in DC, to Weaverton (West of Brunswick), in Gaithersburg MD.I'd pay for that.-Jeffrey

When I get a new machine, and when MSTS2 comes out (which will probably happen right around the same time), I was thinking about taking a stab at the Old Main Line between Halethorpe and PoR. I figured this might be a good first route, considering that it's fairly short, not many populated areas, and it's mostly single track.I also figured that if the OML worked out, I could always expand it to include that Capital Sub (my territory) from Bayview to DC, and then eventually maybe do the RF&P Sub down to Richmond and the Met and Cumberland Subs out to Mexico. But that is way off in the future. Let's see if I ever get started on the OML before I get too ambitious. Chris Denbow - Baltimore, MD

The Monon Line was a historical route through Indiana. I believe Trains did an artilce on it a few months ago.

>Did that run through Kokomo or Tipton?Yes it did. The NYC&St.L main line ran through Muncie (and included a branch that ran south through New Castle to Rushville) while "the Cloverleaf" ran through Kokomo and included a branch that ran south to Indy, via Tipton and North to Peru. Both of these main lines converged in Frankfort, which was a division point and the site of a major yard on the old NYC&St.L.(edit for structure)--

RE: Route Suggestions

How about an international route -- say, Montreal to NYC or Boston? Lots of mtns on either route. I think both hug the Lake-Champlain shoreline (the NY State one does).Cheers,
