RE: Heisler

Because NO ONE have ansvered you'r question, I will.
No, no one seem to be interested, but if I had the necesairy stuff I could always give it a go. I think that Heislers are funny looking engines but perfect for their use and that it's a shame that nobody has begun building one. If someone did, we would the have all three types of geared engines, Shay, Heisler and Climax. Well that's MY opinion!Steam rules!Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 2

>If someone did, we would the have all three types of geared engines,
>Shay, Heisler and Climax. Actually, there was one more. It was called a Williamette and it was extremely similar to the shay except for some difference in the pistons or something. and I think it rode lower to the rails. -hovertrain

Something like this you mean?
Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 7
G&D #6 was a two truck but adding the rear tender is not that much more work.
Cab looks little funny but will improve when I get some more work done.
After that it would need eng-file, cab & sounds.<edit> This is my first project in gmax and will be available for repaints. Previous logging enignes released here in the file library are a two truck Climax and a four truck Shay, no Heislers before. Williamette is very similar to the Shay, built by a different company when the Shay patents went out.

RE: Heisler

That is almost exactly what I'm talking about ( The coloring and the checkered paint wasn't what I had in mind, but I've seen a model in progress look like that) -Hovertrain

RE: Heisler

>It does look really nice anyways. I agree! It sure does, and it'll be on the d/l list when it comes out About the Climax in the library, it's soo tiny and NOT suiting for american logging railroads. I think that there should be another one with more "American" style (big headlight, cowcatcher, bell and nice colors like green and gold.) I guess that'll come aswell
Can't wait until that Heisler will be done

RE: Heisler

Jon Davis, who did the Sumpter and Uintah 2-6-6-2's and other narrow gauge engines has done an Oregon Lumber Co. Climax, 3' gauge, although he hasn't uploaded it yet. I just finished the custom sounds and sent them off to him.Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 10

RE: Heisler

Now we're talkin'! That's the stuff. Baloon stack, big one too But I had something else in mind, it would look like the 1855 General on the overbody but it would be a Climax!
I like engines with bright colors (maybe that's why I download so much SP stock, it's green )
BTW when is that baby gonna hit the library? It'll be interesting to try her out Steam rules!Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 11

RE: Heisler

Funny coloring helps applying the textures during development and will then later be replaced by more accurate texturing.
I'm doing this from photos and some general dimensions I found for an Artful (that's a 55 tons standard two truck Heisler). It's not an exact replication of a specific engine since I don't have any drawings. Planning to provide some variation options; coal or oil fired, optional spark arrestor, two or three trucks.
