Well the switcher is progressing along nicely. While the "sausage" style tenders may not have been much to look at they certainly seem to offer much better visibility than a conventional C (cylindrical) class as evidenced by the first pic. The second two show the switcher working the Marietta yard, bringing the empty tankcars over from the engine facility and setting them out for pickup. Look for progress soon.

RE: More progress on the switcher

I have to agree. That does look like you put more than 30 seconds of work into it to speed it up. Instead, you are taking your time and making a much better loco! -Hovertrain

RE: More progress on the switcher

it's interesting to note that the kind of tender you've built holds more fuel volume wise than a regular tender would. Fuel and water to be exact. It's strange, but if you figure the inside volume, you'll see what I'm saying.

RE: More progress on the switcher

Most of the 0-6-0s in the Oakland area utilized the tender shown, that is why we opted to model it instead of the vanderbilt or the slope back styles.

I may be wrong, but I believe this kind of tender is called a "Whale Back" tender. or a "Modified Whale Back."EDIT>Looked closely at the pics and I think that it's a "Semi Vandi" short for Semi Vanderbuilt tender. These tenders varied in design.
