Hello,Is there a way to make the sphere of light shine into the other direction? The Azimuth statement isn't working here...Greetings, Roni

Other direction? I assume you tried using negative numbers?

>Other direction? I assume you tried using negative numbers? > Where?By default there is no Azimuth statement with the sphere of light which indicates the direction of the other lights, and I don't know if it works at all with the sphere.Greetings, Roni
There are no provisions for direction of a shere of light. You can have the light be cast behind you, but it'll still be pointing in a forward direction in relation to the front of your loco. Looks odd when cast upon buildings and other scenery.Cheers! Marc - 3DTrains http://www.3dtrains.comPro Series Super Packs

Guys, I'm not sure if this is what you are talking about, but this is a reverse light activated by the dim switch. You would have to adjust positions to match your loco, but it works great on switchers after dark. You can see anywhere from about 3 to 6 cars very plainly behind you. This will probably lose it's formatting, but the information is still there. Also, I've not noticed it shining forward on building .. you can't even see what's in front of the engine when it's activitated. btw, I'm not sure who to credit this to .. it sure wasn't any of my work Light ( comment( Sphere of light Reverse added ) Type ( 1 ) Conditions ( Headlight ( 2 ) Unit ( 2 ) ) Cycle ( 0 ) FadeIn ( 0.5 ) FadeOut ( 0.5 ) States ( 1 State ( Duration ( 0.0 ) LightColour ( ffffffff ) Position ( 0.0 3.5 -115 ) Transition ( 0 ) Radius ( 100.0 ) Angle ( 30.0 ) ) ) )
Based on the position statement, it appears that the sphere of light is emanating from 115 meters behind the center of origin for the loco, or approximately 375 feet behind the loco. Since it is only a sphere of light, you don't see a glow at that point. But I believe (and I've been wrong many times) that the light is not shining to the rear. Rather, it emanates from behind the loco, but because of the smaller radius and angle doesn't extend forward past the loco.Dave

Offhand I would say check the Position settings for your lights. I just hacked a flashing light mod for the old SD40 into the new SD40-2 eng file and had to adjust most of the position figures. I compared the position settings for the unmodified SD402 with the expanded light coding I had pasted into the sd402.eng file - there were some dramatic differences. When I revised them, the lights appeared in the right place. I'm still testing, however thus far a dry run both day and night out of Shelby in Marias31 has gone OK. Need to run an activity to make sure. One nice thing about taking the time to do this for default locos is AI locos will then also be lighted - never did like seeing them running dark. I did a simple mod - the Easterday - Alexander files- for the Dash 9 and it worked fine on a nightime activity. On my way to do a similar activity for the SD40-2.Also got a new SD40-2 cabview installed - no more sideways view - and added a line to the .eng file for a Headout view - sloppy work from Kuju not including this to begin with. Easy to fix though. Bing
Just say "Yo!".

RE: Sphere of Light into the other direction
Having read all the other responses, and going slightly off subject, I have noticed that I can only have one sphere illuminated at a time, regardless of where it is in the train, so if I try to light up behind, say Enocell's observation car, then I don't get a headlight sphere, and the one I do get behind the train is still pointing forward. I think Cone-Of-Light might be more accurate.(Hey, KUJU!!!! Are you listening?? Do you even Care??)
