Not sure what forum to put this in so will try here.......have a question on lighting.....am reskinning a GP30, I think it is modified.....because the headlights are above the windshield on the real loco....The engine I am reskinning from has the headlight in the nose.....big problem.......my question is can the headlights be moved in the engine file so that they light up above the window? And if so how does one go about doing that? Please, simple terms here.......I am not an expert or even close to one......I did draw lighting for the area above the windshield so it should look fine there....however, the other problem will be how to get rid of the texture part of the light on the nose........or is that impossible to do......is the whole thing impossible to do and if so does anyone know where I can get a GP30 with the lights where I want them to be.....I sure hate to start over as the entire thing is done and was a bitch to do to begin with but can't live with the lights in the wrong place.........and not have it be authentic....... Thanks anyone........I appreciate any help you can give me........Tim Appalachia RR

RE: lighting question
Yes the lights for engines are located in the .eng file. There are three coordinates for each (x,y,z i believe.) It takes trial and error to place them correctly but it can be done. There's a document on Train Simulator CD1 called How_To_Specify_Lights in the tech docs folder that can explain it better. There are also several others. I just copied them all to my MSTS installation. Hope this helps.

Yes you are right the x,y,z, where X is offset from center in metres, Z is height off the bottom of the model again in metres, and Z is, the distance from the center of the loco again in meters. SOO, a light with these figures for position ( 0 3 15 ) would be in the center, 3 metres above the lowest point on the model, and be 15metres forward from center. Can you understand that? Regards,Ben
