This latter site has a faster download speed. At the train i averaged 59KBPS at tramsimulator I averaged 162 KBPS. This of course using ADSL.

Shane,
Download the 3 Zip files to a temp folder. Then cut & paste the Stadtbahn U79 folder to your Route Folder. Don't forget to download the rolling stock, it is all in 1 file. Also run the installme bat.
You must register on either of the sites in order to download.

I'll have to chime right in along with everyone else so far. Outstanding!!This is definitely one of those efforts that blows a lot of payware routes out of the water. Lots of new objects, put together in a totally believable and accurate way. It is evident that a lot of time was spent looking at and photographing the real route. Last time I was in Germany I was intrigued by the little "Smart Cars" and now we have them in MSTS. The control of the trams, ( German Strassenbahn ), is definitely different but quite accurate. Acceleration is quick and braking quite hard, it just takes some getting used to. Best of all are the frame rates. I'd have to classify my machine as what Sniper calls a celery computer and I'm still getting mid teens to mid twenties. Wow!Once again this is a stunning job. Well worth the download.Joerg

I'll say it has a faster download speed!I tried the train.de site first, cause I couldn't find the link on trainsimulator.de. Very slow, as usual, so I cancelled out. Then I found the link on trainsimulator.de. Twenty (20)(!!!) times faster!Highly advised to use this site. As mrmike says, you must register. I don't know German, so I was flying completely blind. Over on the right, click Register. Then, in the middle top, put your sign-in name, where there's no "repeat" box to the right. Next, your password, and repeat it in the box to the right. Finally, your email, and repeat it in the box to the right. Click "Senden", and you meet the "Wilkommen" screen. (Sorry about my spelling, I'm doing this from memory, which for an old fellow like myself is getting like a sieve.) You're in. THEN go to Downloads, and U79 is easy to find.Jeff

Wow!! - what an outstanding piece of work by the team!! This is easily Payware quality IMHO.Thanks for the headsup on this one - and to Jeff who gave a guiding hand to those lacking in understanding German!!So much to see and such high quality - including the posters of Homer Simpson's head X-ray, flights of aircraft in the sky, hotair balloon etc.Only quibble is the control on the trams - just a bit vicious, but I can certainly live with that!! What I usually do is use the Babel Fish Translator when I can't figure out what space is what, don't use the translator to register or sign in,then either write down the info or memorize then go back to the original & register or sign in. My Computer specs are in my profile

Multiple errors when trying to run activities.....It seems that there are several tree textures that have not been installed correctly in all seasons - bircha, birchb, poplars, tamaracNone of the following textures copied across: it seems that the error is in this part of the installme.bat: you can see "invalid directory" messages flash past on the screen as installme.bat runs.

There is a fix posted. I must've missed it - I downloaded only 5 files: U79zips 1-3, the U79trams file and the Activity Update. Ran zips, then installme then Activity problem update then tram install. Is the Fix posted elsewhere?RegardsYuri.

Mmm... interesting.I'm on Win98SE. I'm convinced that there is a difference in the way Win98 handles copy vs xcopy.I've just checked the installme.bats of Blue Mountains, Mel-Ballarat and Illawarra route - all recent Route_Rited routes: their batch files contain only xcopy, not copy. Harzquerbahn's installme.bat contains both xcopy and copy and no textures called by the copy command made it into the required folder (for example) the uscow, sheep01, sheepBF01 didn't copy into the snow texture folder. In fact, Hzq's Autumnsnow, Wintersnow, Springsnow folders are empty.Supporting this contention, U79 activities now work perfectly after changing all appearances of copy to xcopy and running installme.bat again.Mike Simpson, are you reading this?RegardsYuri.

Just checked my Hartzquerbahn Texture sub files & they are all there. Including the ones you listed.
I believe you are correct in stating that Windows 98 & XP handle the bat. files differently.

The main difference between COPY and XCOPY is that the former can not create Sub-Directories / Folders, has fewer Command Line Switches such as dealing with Attributes, is slower having to process one file at the time and can also not COPY ZERO-length files, for instance.There is also an issue with both and "Long Filenames" in the Batch Files if run from the Command Prompt.I would use XCOPY anytime. Downloaded all 5 Zips on the WIN-98SE yesterday but have not installed them yet, my WIN-XP waiting for a replacement Graphics Card.O t t o

For those whose maybe don't have the connection capability this route is available on cd for the miniscule sum of 10 euros, and simplifies the installation to a massive degree; getting it on cd also meant I had it on the 14/10/03 and it knocked my socks off; this is so accurate it's scary, and I believe that at some point there will be extensions, and the Line U74 will go all the way... the authors site is at www.graphic15.de and Ralf and Juergen speak better english than I do german....

Ok, ran Conbuilder through the rollingstock and discovered two problems (ok 44 errors, but 43 of them relate to one file - much better than payware TP2's 200+ errors).One's an easy fix:Open shape definition file g15_pro-b80d_4102_3.sd located in the folder \TRAINS\TRAINSET\G15_PRO-B80D_4102\In the "Shape(" line change
g15_pro-b80d_4102-3.s
to
g15_pro-b80d_4102_3.s(ie change hyphen to underscore).The other 43 errors relate to just one missing file that is called from just about every .sms file:"B80D_doorscls.wav" is missing
from \TRAINSET\G15_PRO-B80D_4242\SOUND.So two minor errors in a freeware route = amazing: the payware people should look long and hard at the quality of this product and try to emulate its precision and attention to detail: the authors can be well proud of their achievement.I'm thoroughly enjoying running the activities on this route - a complete change of style from heavy railway action.

Browse to U79 folder. Select installme.bat. Click copy. Click paste.
This gives you a backup called "Copy of Installme.bat"Right-click on installme.bat and "edit" the file: it should open in Wordpad. If not, open Wordpad, browse to installme.bat and open it.Click on Edit | ReplaceFind What: Type in copy
Replace with: Type in xcopyCheck "Match whole word only"Click "Replace All".Save and quit.RegardsYuri.

Hi,Has anyone experienced a total lockup while in explore route mode near the Wittlaer station, both directions ? Particular tram was G15_Pro-B80D_4278. Have not tried other trams yet. Tram stopped on its own and screen froze. No 'letters to Bill message'. Just a screen freeze that only Ctrl-Alt-Del would finally clear. It occurs every time the tram enters this area.Route Riter found no route problems. Con-Edit found no problems with any of the trams. Any suggestions ?Mike G.

It says "Next stop". The name of the next stop you have to say yourself.Edit: There is some tool and additional sounds available which give proper station announcements. Will let you know about this when I figured out how to use it.Henry
