Here's a weird problem that's popped up on the last couple of days. When I switch to head out view, the sound from the train cuts out completely, depending on which type of locomotive I'm driving and which direction I'm looking. For steam locos, it's looking towards the rear of the train and for diesels it's looking ahead. Anyone know why this is so?

What type of soundcard are you using?

RE: head out view sound cuts out
I had something similar once and it was because I had my sound card software set to 2.1 or 5.1 surround instead of stereo to match my speaker set up. Plain daft but it had me tearing my hair out for a while until I cottoned on!

RE: head out view sound cuts out
I had similar symptoms after installing the first version of Sky Conductor, couldn't figure out why I'd get no sound from certain angles. Then I discovered the left speaker wire had gotten pinched under a chair or something, so I replaced the wire and got the sound back!

RE: head out view sound cuts out
I figured it out and it was a similar problem to what you described. I've got an Nvidia Soundstorm sound thingy onboard my MB (Asus A7N8X-DL) and it has support for 6 speaker surround sound. I didn't have the surround enabled, but I had it configured for 4 speakers with the front audio going to a jack on the front of my case into which I plug in my headphones, and the rear audio going out to the stereo. The front and rear channels appeared balanced, but I guess with that config, it tries to create some semblance of surround and would drop out the front speakers. If I switch to two speakers only all the sounds are where they should be.
