A fella just pointed out to me that my readme has a flaw. Many of the objects I distributed have something in the readme which says something to the effect that you can use my buildings for a payware route. Actually, you can't. The oversight on my part was forgetting that with TSM home version, you can't sell the objects made with it. Hence, I can't sell them, neither can anybody else. What I am doing in the next few days is pulling all the building objects so I can fix the errant readme's. Now, routes for free or personal use can still use the objects with no problem. You all can return to your regularly scheduled program now. Rich Garber

RE: Important: Can't use my buildings in payware routes

That's an interesting point there... I'm not sure what happens in that situation. Mostly the way this came up was a friend emailed me about something and it just dawned on me what I did. I really don't think anybody intended to use the buildings in a payware route because there so hard to do. But as far as freeware and personal routes, the buildings are fine to use. No problems there.Rich Garber

Has anyone determined if TSM puts something in the .s file that uniquely identifies it as a TSM project?Cal Rasmussen

RE: Important: Can't use my buildings in payware routes

Because how can they prove you created the model in TSM if they can't trace it back to their program?

RE: Important: Can't use my buildings in payware routes

oh yah... got it now. Well... I'd know and I don't want to take advantage of a situation like that. And really, I think this only boils down to me having to fix up the readme's to remove the couple of words is all anyway. Nobody from Abacus made me do this, this was my call to do what I did. I think this was the best thing to do to avoid confusion and possibly trouble later on down the road.Rich Garber

I doubt it, if their releases are anything to go by! LOL!Mind you, with their cynical outlook, they would probably take court action. Can I sue them for the crap routes they have distributed? LOL!David

RE: Important: Can't use my buildings in payware routes

True.. true... and like I said earlier... they're not really aware of this situation. This is my own decision to get the readme's to read respective of the agreement we made when we purchased TSM is all. It's not a big deal to me, I just wanted to make sure that anybody possibly doing a payware route that might have tried using one of my buildings on the route wouldn't do so because it was my mistake to include in the readme that they could. I really don't think there is anyone doing this but I don't know for sure. So better to broadcast the error and fix it as a precaution.Rich Garber

RE: Important: Can't use my buildings in payware routes

If somebody was doing a payware route, and was willing to pay the feel, they could buy a commercial copy of TSM and then use all your materials. If I were releasing a Payware route, I would either have to use 3DC or pay Abacus, because I can't imagine building a payware quality route WITHOUT needing to build 3d objects for it. Heck, I can't build a freeware route without building such objects Frankly, if somebody were to use your materials in such a route, they should buy YOU a commercial TSM license You do really nice work.
