RE: Installing the N.&.J.C.

Just starting to check the 1.5 "Starting Points" now, Ted.Looks like they have not changed. Also seems that Teemu managed to make most of the Loops I created work, adding a few of his own ! Good Lad ! Nothing more annoying then to drive your train into the fields ! O t t o

RE: Installing the N.&.J.C.

I downloaded NJC15 (64+MB)last night on a dial-up and its a breeze to install.Just one zip file, unzip to trainsim folder, run the install batch file and it's ready.Never did see anything about parts 1-4.
Did not have the previous version.
Have all the files and folders you show.Route works so far but only ran from a couple start points in "explore route"
By the way, thanks for your previous response re downloading with IE5.5 vs IE6

RE: Installing the N.&.J.C.

Joe,you Downloaded the complete .exe version. Self-installing apart from having to run the Installme.bat.There are many of us less fortunate, not having "Always-On Broadband", who can not Download anything taking more than a certain time limit imposed by our ISPs. My Download speed is 7 Kb.p.sec. most times. We have to Download the 4 separate .zips of the N.&.J.C.-1.5 " Get a Calculator and work out how long it would take to Download 60 Mb at this rate of knots ! O t t o

RE: Installing the N.&.J.C.

Though I'm nowhere near being able to install N&JC I am printing out the folder tree (?) for when I need it. That kind of clear, detailed instruction is most helpful and appreciated. Thanks for taking the time Otto.Annabelle

RE: Installing the N.&.J.C.

You are lucky then, Joe !My ISP here in the U.K., B.T.Openworld, allows only 2 hours Online Max. Less at "Peak" Periods, never knowing when you get the "Chop" !The trick is to do one download at a time, disconnect and start another one to fool their Online Time Counter Clock ! Annabelle, E-Mail me if you get any problems installing the N.&.J.C. I am rather fond of.My Starting Points Map appears to be correct still although Teemu sneaked in a couple of new ones ! O t t oRest your Mouse Pointer on the Map and you get Options to "Save" or "Print" it.Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 3

RE: Installing the N.&.J.C.

A small point here Otto,Your note "Rest your Mouse Pointer on the Map and you get Options to "Save" or "Print" it" doesn't apply to all browsers. I use Opera as my prefered browser, and occassionally revert back to Netscape 4.5 for some special purposes. In Opera, I have to right-click the map to get the rather extensive options list.Otherwise, a very nice post indeed from a very helpful gentelman
Personally, I've chosed to stay away from IE as much as possible (ever notice how many of Mickesoft's Critical Updates" are related to security holes in IE or related things?).CheersJohn

I intended all versions to be unzipped directly to routes folder. The self-extracting 1.5 must be extracted to the root of TRAIN SIMULATOR and not not ROUTES because it puts the consist files to TRAINS\CONSISTS. I wanted to create multipart exe but that was not possible:-(

RE: Installing the N.&.J.C.

Hi Teemu !>I intended all versions to be unzipped directly to routes folder.

I think that this is what is causing the confusion with some because if you tell WINZIP to:Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 6(keeping in mind that my MSTS is on Drive G:) then this is where WINZIP unzipps into:Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 7this is what WINZIP should be told:Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 8and here are all the N.&.J.C. Folders where they should be:Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 9now RUN the Installme.bat and this is what you should see. Watch out for lines saying File not found - 0 File(s) copied, indicating that some of the MSTS Default Files needed are not where they should be ! Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 10The same applies to Installing XTracks. DO NOT UNZIP to \GLOBAL\ or you will get the same problem. Again UNZIP to:

Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 11and here is the correct larger Tsection.dat with a more Recent Date, confirming a successful Install !Archived thread - Read only Previous Topic | Next Topic – image 12Just spotted a TRAINS Folder in \ROUTES\ above where it should not be ! Contains N.&.J.C. Consists ! Now how did they get there ? All CONSISTS need to be COPIED / PASTED into the proper \TRAINS\CONSISTS\ Folder and Locos Folders into \TRAINS\TRAINSET\ !Hope that this now removes any remaining shaddows of doubt and everybody can ENJOY the fruits of their DOWNLOADING Efforts !
